Shiv, possibility of a PNP Xede?

shiv, just wondering if you've looked into doing a pnp xede for an even simpler, cleaner install? and idea on the availability of the mating connectors to make this a possibility?

i like the general idea of the xede, but do not want to splice into my factory harness to install it in the event the factory dme has to be replaced under warranty and the techs see the patched up splices.

thanks!

I asked this before and he said he would not be making a plug-in harness because there is too little room in the ECU area for that, and also he said that the pins "pop" out of the stock ECU harness extremly easy, just push the little tab and the wire pops right out, without any splicing, so they can be put back in easily.

In it's current state, our kit doesn't require any wire splicing or cutting. We already provide our computer with the factory pin terminals. So all you have to do is pop out 4 factory pins (takes a few seconds to do that) and pop in the pins that we provide with the kit (takes a few more seconds to do that). All the stuff before and after (expose the ECU compartment, pop off the ecu lid, disconnect the factory ECU harness, put it all back together) takes another 5-10 min to do if you've done it before. First timers shiould give themselve an hour to do it to be on the safe side. The newest incarnation of our kit doesn't have an additional solenoid like the beta kits that are on the road so there is a bit less work involved.

We considered the full patch/harness connector approach (as oppposed to pin extraction approach) but the added cost ($250-300) and lack of space in the ECU compartment (not sure how we could get the lid back on!) ruled that out for the time being. It would certainly make it a bit easier to install and remove but at this time it just isn't feasible.

Cheers,
shiv
