Macbook and Procede
Getting this question a bit more often lately: Can I run the Procede User Software on a MacBook.
And the answer is yes. But you will need to load Windows. You can either use Bootcamp which is built into all Macs which allows you to restart the computer and have it boot up in Windows. Or better yet, you can also install Parallels which will allow you to run Windows and Mac software at the same time. In "Coherence" mode, Windows apps look and behave just like Mac apps. I just got a new Macbook Air the other day and running Windows 7 through Parallels and it's perfectly stable and plenty fast. In fact, it's probably more stable and faster than the old cheap Acer laptop i used that ran Windows natively. Not to mention the new MacBook Air gets me over 6 hrs of use Yes, I know some of you guys make fun of Macs. I like em. So there. Last edited by OpenFlash; 11-06-2010 at 08:01 PM.. |

I'm running the Procede software using Bootcamp with Windows XP. I do notice everytime I try to load a new template it crashes the Data viewer.
Any ideas? |

The holiday season approaches and green sweaters just sound like a good idea.

Yup. I'm doing the same thing as Shiv.. except I'm using VMware Fusion on a 11.6" Macbook Air.
Also, Shiv.. again sorry for that late night BS phone call and the random emails.

Let's just say last night I was out celebrating a friend's birthday and things got a bit crazy and Shiv was at the top of my INBOX... all downhill from there.

Most people that buy the air are 99.5% connecting wireless. I have an Air as well and never connected it through Ethernet as its the most portable laptop I own, other than the iPad. But to answer your question, there isn't any issue with using the usb/ethernet dongle with the Air.

Not really, FreeBSD is the main core used with Job's NeXT but they use many similar pieces Free/Net BSD anyway.
I remember the lead programmer manager at FreeBSD about 9-10 years ago left that group to go work for Apple and lead the development of a new x86 based architecture operating sytem. The failed G processor wasn't cutting it obviously and they needed a x86 architecture based OS to build off of. The lead manager/developer of the FreeBSD project didn't hide the fact he was going to work for Apple to work on this new platform/OS. This became the next generation OSX 10.4 that ran on Intel x86. I still remember the guy's goodbye letter posted on the FreeBSD website and newsgroup mill flying with the buzz of him leaving. This article backs my memory up with a quick search of FreeBSD lead developer going to Apple... http://www.crn.com/news/applications...Isg**.ecappj02 But in the end, doesn't matter, OSX is based off the BSD open source Unix Kernel and it at it's core.
