need help with proceed v4

Hi guys, I'm new to all this tuning. I have a 2011 335is n54 dct and recently purchased and installed a proceed V4.

It seems that the instructions for everything are just scattered about on their forum and to do anything you have to search and search.

I'm having a very hard time getting around on the Vishnu forum. I don't know if it's my browser or what but every window
opens in a browserless box that cannot be manipulated and cannot be scrolled if the page is larger than my screen.
Searching for info has been very time consuming and frustrating I have to back out and start from scratch at every new link.

Some of the videos don't stand on their own - they film the dash and say "move up to command 15 and push the button"... WTF!???
How do you move to command 15 and what button are you pushing??? they don't say or show how they are manipulating the setting,
I don't know if he's pushing the throttle or turning the radio knob.

Some of the instructions are outdated and don't apply to my car or my version of the proceed,
trying to figure that out is often just guesswork because there's no organization.

Vishnu badly needs an organized, indexed menu and comprehensive instructions in a downloadable format.

But in the mean time I would be happy if someone could tell me what I need to do to make browsing the instruction forum possible...

thanks, and sorry for the rant.

Many of the important ones work for me? The install video could be updated, but it is all pretty self-explanatory inside the ecu box... And the command center video couldn't have been clearer on which buttons he is pressing...?

OP- what exactly Are you trying to figure out? We can be of more help

mostly how to browse the vishnu forum...

I'd also like to be able to download and keep relevant information for future reference.

So from this site, none of the links work for you? Each of the links opens up a plethora of good info and more links to more info, etc.

For the most current V4 info/maps/firmware/fun stuff, you'll get all that here:

http://www.vishnutuningforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21

From the link in the previous post, you would click on "Downloads" then "Current V4 Autotune Maps" which would bring you to this page.

OK that link works and the subsequent links open in normal browser format

I don't get it, why can't I get it to do that from the vishnu website?

I made a bookmark of that link
Thank you very much!!! I will be pouring over that site later this week

Now - how do I clear an airbag light?
(that's the video that doesn't explain what buttons they are using)

Yeah, there is a lot of fun things to learn about how your tune does what it does! The extra features are great too!

So for clearing the airbag light, you'd go to into the command center (Pull CC stalk back for a second), pull back a few times til the Tach goes to 3Krpm, (meaning you're in Mode 3), then push the CC stalk up until it gets to 150 KPH (meaning Command 15), then press the BC button at the end of the CC stalk. That will clear the Airbag code. Check the "Command Center Guide" that is in the Firmware.zip file for all the extra features you can set up and codes to clear

I'm not sure why you are having a hard time reading the info on our support forum. If you think it's your browser, can you try another computer? Anyway, resetting the airbag light is just another command in the command center. That is documented in the command center reference guide which is included in the download for the newest 8-17 maps. It's mode 3, command 15.

Ah yes.. that's all going to be replaced within the next few days. I admit that page is very outdated. Too much has bee developed in the last several weeks. So the best place to go for all up to date feature info is www.vishnutuning.com. Or, more specifically, here: http://vishnutuningforum.com/viewforum.php?f=3

shiv - if I go to your website and click on any of the links the windows open in a box with no browser features - can't scroll, can't go back, can't go forward - nothing works.
I tried it on XP, on windows 7, with explorer and with firefox... and with both my laptop and my desktop.
I don't know why this link from BrianMN works and your web links don't but at least I can now get around thanks to Brian.

Do I need to download these new maps (8-17) and the new firmware to the V4?

I'm starting to get it guys, thanks for all your help!

This video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbAMS...layer_embedded Has been extremely helpful

Now I have to learn how to download maps and update my firmware and software - I'm off to the forum to figure that out...

(unfortunately I buried the serial cable inside the ECU box so I'll have to take all that cowl stuff back off to access it)

Do you guys run a cable out of the ecu box for easy access? if so, how do you rout it?

Yes, you run it from the ECU box into the glove box, so you can update maps and firmware from your laptop in the car.

Read the thread below. A couple of hints:

1) Use some electrical tape to make sure the connector holds together in the ECUbox
2) When you push the end through the hole, it does not have to go very far before you can access it in the footwell in the cabin. Have a good flash light to look for it hitting near the top of the carpet.

thank you, thank you Scott!

I have an unused serial cable and believe it or not my laptop has a serial port.
The ends on the cable are fairly large (1.25"x.5")
Do you think the end will fit through the existing hole/grommets or should I go out and buy a USB adapter cable?

You need a 6' USB to Serial cable. Serial gets plugged in to the proceed harness, and then feed the USB end through the hole in the ECU box into the cabin.

It won't fit. USB connector barely fits in that hole.
