Thermostat monitoring - mechanics please

Just got my car back from the dealer. New HPFP. Imagine that.

Anyway, I asked them to investigate due to some other issues and one of them was the high heat when just driving aggressively up the mountain that's close to me.

I asked if they could test the thermostat and they said "Yes. There is a specific test for that in their diagnostics." My SA told me that it is monitored even though I can't see how.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Yeah, thermostats can usually be monitored with their scan tools.

99% sure that you cannot monitor it. It is 100% mechanical and there are no sensors on the housing. I placed a call with a buddy of mine that is a master tech, waiting for a call back.
