Transmission fault
The other day I was driving in to work in the morning and just as I hit the highway (maybe 2 minutes into my commute) I went to pass a pickup and as I let up on the gas and folded back into my lane, I felt a hard shift back into top gear (6-speed auto), then I got a transmission warning light on my iDrive. I can't remember the exact description, but it was something like: "Transmission fault. reduced acceleration. Drive cautiously." I was stuck in one gear (straight through I'm guessing, 5th out of 6 I think). I pulled over and shut the ignition off, then restarted and everything was fine (no warning and all gears seemed to work fine). Later, after I got to work, I plugged in my Bavarian Technic cable and checked code. I had only the following fault code set:
4F8B: Speed transmition ratio 5-6 Error will not cause a warning light Error is not currently present Test conditions have not been completed Any idea what this means? It's a 2006 (mfg 09/2005) E90 330i with sport package. It was the first cold day of the fall (about 30F in the morning as I took off for work) and the coldest day since I've owned the vehicle. It has about 85000 miles on the clock. Edit: Dang-it, how'd that happen. Wrong forum. Could a moderator please move this to the correct forum. |
