Lower grills... people painting these black or buying them?

I bought matte black kidney grills... now looking to make the lowers black as well.. Are people painting these or buying them... If buying, who sells them? I may just buy them! Let me know!

I just painted mine, came out pretty good. There's a great DIY for it. If you go the other way, to install the new grills you have to remove the entire front bumper.

I tried painting mine using a sponge and taping off the edges, but they look like shit. I dont want to spraypaint them straight up and paint everything behind the bumper, so either way I have to take the bumper off.

That being said I think I'm gonna just get a set of black ones from tischer since mine are kind of beat up anyway (cracked, broken, and one big hole from a stone on the highway).

Well I have no idea what BMW you have, so go to the following site, input the info about your car, and then go to appropriate section to find the part numbers you need:

www.bmwfans.info

Then take those part numbers and put them in on the Tischer site:

I painted mine. It took quite a while, because I'm pretty meticulous. If you're not the patient type, just order some. Otherwise, PM me and I can send pics and tell you exactly what I used

This is the only way to go IMO. Modify the 328 grills to fit the oil cooler duct if you have it. I haven't seen one set of painted lower grills that have not chipped over time.

^I went through the exact same thing as this person. I painted mine, and it looks absolutely ghetto and crappy even though I tried my best. I couldn't stand looking at it, even though most people wouldn't notice, so I brought a set of black (328i coupe) grills from Tischer BMW. It was a lot of work getting the front bumper off, but I became 100% satisified. I suggest you DON'T paint them, and just get the black 328i ones.

I just painted mine this weekend.
Krylon matte black. Followed the instructions here on this forum.
The job came out GREAT. I will do a second coat to perfect the small glitches,
but for all intent and purposes and for the couple hours of work...it is well worth it.
Spending the money and time to replace the grills along with the hassle of having to remove the whole front end is so not worth it.
Do it yourself.
It MAKES the look of the 335 so much nicer.

Just clean and spray.
