We take a lot of things for granted in the U.S.

Over 9,000 people have been killed in Mexico so far this year because of drug violence. Assassinations happen in broad daylight. Latin America is like the wild west. The drug cartels run shit, and the cops are pretty much powerless to stop them. Hell, in Brazil two of the F1 teams (can't remember who) were attacked by armed gunmen leaving the track the day before the race there. Rio has a massive crime problem and it's going to take a ton of work if they hope to clean it up by the time the Olympics are held.

Latin America looks like a beautiful place to visit, but unless it changes I won't be visiting anytime soon. As an American who barely understands Spanish I'd stick out like a sore thumb. And with the corruption in the police forces it's not like you can turn to them for help.

2 things.
1. The comments on there are even more disturbing in some ways than the video itself.... people bitching about someone not helping? Shows how ignorant, and small world-ed their own world is I'm the type to help in any way I can, any time I can...but if someone comes in guns ablazing...I'm running like hell myself.
2. I think I'm right in this view, but I'm pretty sure the guy getting shot was pulling out a gun too from his pants...somehow me thinks he's not all too innocent either... gang war? drugs?

i would have to agree, although you do have a heart and soul and feel as if you need to help out, NO one in their right minds would just be standing there while their shooting. Common sense tells you to run away and call 911. Video is utterly disturbing and to watch someone die infront of your computer screen is unfathomable. Im guessing it was probably some sort of drug deal gone wrong as well because the guy who was on the ground had a gun, its not like they were shooting at an innocent person.

The video description says the man was shot to death because they were stealing his Blackberry. A fucking blackberry. A FUCKING BLACKBERRY.

And I think if I lived in Venezuela, I'd be carrying a gun on me 24/7. Doesn't mean I'm a drug dealer or anything.

What's even worse is this dude was probably just coming out from shopping or some shit, or getting off work. This happened at C.C. el Lido Carcacas, which is a fancy business/shopping district. This didn't happen in the ghetto.

While I'm not sure of the circumstances, I always believe, that despite my highly pro-self defense firearm position, that it is always best to give whatever possession if something like this happens to you. Getting into a shootout is not something to be taken lightly. I would have thrown my wallet, blackberry, hell I'd give him my goddamn BMW if 3 armed me tried to rob me. It's important to remember that possessions are replaceable, lives aren't.

^^^ That little rant dosen't necessarily have anything to do with that video, since we don't know the exact circumstances that lead to the shooting.
