Im drving a e90 325i today, a loaner car from Passport BMW (thks) and I can tell a difference coming from a 325i e90. This 328i has more pep and torque it seem, each time I tap the gas I feel my head jerking (lol)
Boy! what fun even as a Steptronic! Anyone knows the 328i new torgue specs ?

I am guessing everyone who has gotten over 130 has the sport package? The limit on those cars is 150 I believe....
I have had mine close to 120, and felt like it could do plenty more--I just assumed it would get to 130 and not go any faster....Will have to try it out to make sure!

What gear were you in? I dont remember quite right but on the M3 forum we had a discussion and someone said the limiter will only work while in 6th gear.(I could be wrong). But I had my old M3 up to past 160mph (indicated), then you run into the debate the spedo is off and a few people have posted GPS readings saying at indicated speeds of 155 mph you are going about 146 ish.

I have heard that the limiter keeps the car from going faster, even if the speedometer continues to move up--maybe this is true? Maybe the car lets you think you are actually going faster, but you are actually cruising along at 130....

I did indicated 135mph last night(328i no sport package). But ran out of room. Anyways you have to remember that the limiter might be 130 mph but when you are going WOT you are carrying momentum and can easily pass the limiter temporarily, I suspect if you kept going WOT after a while you would be cut back down to 130mph.

The top speed on a regular 328i is 130mph and 150mph with the sports package. If the limiter were to be removed i'm confident it would hit 160mph.
btw, the limiter is raised on the sport package because the tires are rated at a higher top speed than those without the sport package. having a 200mph car means nothing if your tires are rated at 150mph and burst at 170mph.... |

Javier brought up a good point i was thinking about. while bmw deffinitely has some room for error i dont see any good coming from raising your top speed unless you have tires that can handle it

i dont have ZSP, and my car hit the limiter at 135
that was with the stock 16" tires. call me crazy. now i topped it out again with my 19"x9.5 in the rear and the car doesnt seem to float across the road anymore! i know why, im not idiot, but it feels much more solid at high speeds, and i know this is due to the fact that my tires now are much bigger and spofter |

Car hits the limiter at 155mph. That is with the sports package. Can vouch for it. Consistently drive on the Autobahn, really don't have a problem with running out of room. When limiter is reached, it simply feels as if the engine is not getting enough gas.

I have had mine up to 135mph (240km/h) on the Autobahn going to Frankfurt, I have a 328i (2007) with no sports package, just stock equipment. I backed down after that speed. Car ran smooth and awesome, but shit just flew by me wayyyy toooo fast! The car would have gone faster though, maybe sometime soon I will try a little faster to see where that governor kicks in, but I can tell you my 328i got up to 135...effortlessly!
