335i Manual Transmission oil lube of choice?

What kind of lube is BMW putting in our 335i's? Non-AWD. Redline is saying to put ATF in it! Other say the 70/80 GL4, or MT-90. Any ideas? Looking to stick with OEM BMW fluid. I called the parts dept and he didn't even know. Even with the VIN.

I'm using Redline D4ATF in mine. I originally used Redline MTF, but it seemed to be too thick and caused some notchy shifting. The D4ATF seems to cause much smoother shifting - especially when it is cold outside.

I'm 99% sure/betting my car is spec'd for MTF-LT-3. 3rd revision lifetime manual trans fluid. which is basically ATF. I did read the Redline article saying to run the D4ATF. Have to wonder why the OEM BMW fluid is not good...

BMW dealers will charge about $20 a half a liter and I believe you need 3 quarts. You get redline or royal purple you'll spend half the price and get better results. I put redline atf in mine and works fine.

But most dealerships will want you to get under your car and get the model number off your tranny and if u can see the color of the sticker.

^10-4 to that. They want me to give them the trans label. I'm probly going to run Redline ATF (assuming I check my trans and it does have the LT-3 sticker).

Looks like the Trans is requiring a Dexron VI syn ATF... So I could use Redline D6, or Mobil 1 ATF etc.

Yes Redline Atf

BUT if you have a CPO then I would go OEM as I did at 38K from Tishcer. Saving the left over 2.5 qts for anyone local who wants a super deal.
I would change the Redline every 50K. I have used MTL in a prior MT and it worked very well.

Yea - Redline Trumps Bmw

I do understand and see that ATranny Fluid in MT has been reported to
eliminate knotchy shifts.
.
.
This would go against BMW and even MMiller -- SO I chose OEM
.
.
If out of warranty -- I have CPO -- so past 100k --- I may choose
Redline --- but until then OEM.
.
.
My shifts are very smooth -- I changed around 40k and will change again with
OEM at 80k.
.
Warranty Claims -- dealer checks fluid. YOUR CHOICE.

I'm ok with OEM fluid, but I'm not sure where to get it... the dealer keeps trying to sell me like a 55 gal drum of it.

OEM FLUID

Tischer / getbmwparts.com or bavauto.com

Make sure that you know the correct fluid off the sticker on the trans
.
.
You should have enough for 2 changes --- so ge a buddy and split the cost.

Nice. I have the newer thinner spec. I've already checked the trans label during an oil change.
