Some info for 335is/BMW Power Kit owners who want the GIAC flash

Hi,

I just sent my ECU to a GIAC reseller for flashing the GIAC Stage 2. I have the BMW Performance Power Kit installed and I wondered what is the power that the stock map provides in my case ? Is it the stock 306hp or the Power Kit 326hp ?

Unfortunately, I received and answer from the reseller stating that even on the Power Kit-enabled cars, the stock map only outputs the 306hp of a stock 335i. A bit disappointing of an answer. I'm losing the Power Kit benefits on the days I don't feel like pushing my turbos by selecting the full Stage 2.

It is my assumption that the same thing would happen if a 335is is flashed with GIAC.

I also asked GIAC directly about this but mysteriously I didn't get an answer...EDIT: I got the same answer from GIAC: 300bhp on the stock map, regardless whether Power Kit is present or not.

I'm confused.
You want stage 2 on your car but now you are bummed out because the stock map is less than what you have stock now?

IMO, once you feel the power of the stage 2, you won't want anything different unless you go back to the dealer.

I was thinking that I will use the Stage 2 map only at drag racing events...I am not sure this thinking is out of place. I want to protect my engine as much as I can, while still doing great when really needed. It's like when you have a NOS bottle. You wouldn't use it all the time, right ?

You don't have to use full boost all the time, if you did you would probably run over the car in front of you..
You learn to drive your car using a lighter foot.
But when the occasion presents itself let the fun begin

With any tuning platform, you can drive the car daily seamlessly regardless of the stages of maps you are on as if the car was stock.

You wont be boosting max PSI through town, only when you go WOT or close to it.

I wouldnt get too caught up on which stage you should use when and what.

Just get the tune and enjoy the power, as someone said, you learn to control your throttle input to keep the car in check.
