good deal? 328i
I have been looking for a used e90 but after some consideration have come to the conclusion that purchasing a demo makes more sense for me given the fixed maintenance costs.
Stopped in a dealer today and he had this to offer... 2011 328i w/ Premium Package, Value Package, Steptronic, Heated Steering Wheel and Heated front seats. Milage was about 5k. Total suggested price (brand new) was 38,740.00 and their demo price was 35,975.00. $529 a month @ 2.9% over 72 months 3K down and the 1.5K holiday rebate. I don't think its the worst deal however I was disappointed that dealership would not move this monthy price at all! like zero dollars. The only way I could move the payment was if I put more cash down. They were unwilling to move the price of the demo vehicle at all... Despite the fact that I repeated again and again that I would not purchase the car at $519 a month. So how is this deal? or is it truly a lack of a deal? Should I head to another dealership? I am pretty sure that given my age I was getting messed around with...I am in my early 20's. Last edited by spartan22287; 11-16-2010 at 09:47 PM.. |

you can get a brand new one for 250 bucks more. If that car has 5K miles its a demo. They are making close to 3000 on the deal in the front. But remember at 72 months a change of $10 a month is a cut of about $700 in the selling price, so you are going to be making dramatic changes in the monthly payment.
Have you considered leasing a car? Im just not a fan of the 72 month term, especially on a car with only a 4yr warranty, if 529 is a stretch can you afford the 60,000 mile service when it comes up? or at 6 years when some wear and tear starts hitting you will definitely be getting a 4 digit bill for some work. |

Lease
Yea actually after some consideration I think a lease would be solid. I am going to stop by the dealer again today...which leads me to the next question at that point is it even worth getting a demo on a lease I feel like it would hardly effect the monthy payment. I am going to price out a 328 coupe and sedan we will see how it goes. What is a decent monthy payment? I must say I think the 328 has plenty of gusto after test driving yesterday despite what I read on here day after day. Lol sorry don't wanna start a flame here!

Before I purchased my vehicle, I caught eye of a demo with 7k miles on it, a bit short of 7k. Listed MFG price was 39k
Internet price was 33k I got them down to 29k Eventually, I walked away...why? Because it was a demo vehicle and I thought if i bought it, i would be gambling on maintenance. Granted it was a 328i, but still, I have no idea how people drove it. Went CPO instead. |

I don't disagree my purpose in purchasing a BMW new is that my car costs will be consistent and besides tires I shouldn't be looking at surprises. Every month I will know what's coming out towards the car.

And you think a 6 year car loan is a good idea??? If you need to spread the loan out to 6 years you simply cannot afford this car. Sorry to be the voice of reason here.
