BMW In-car internet

Hi everyone,

My e93 is finally here (!) and I'm very excited. It is from the first week 35 production and is apparently one of the first cars in the country with the new internet functionality that was launched on 2011 models.

One slight hiccup, apparently all the new vehicles (3, 5, 7 series) arrived without the internet disable on the move, and so they don't meet ADRs. BMW Australia is waiting on a software update from Germany before I can pick up my car.

I'll let you know once I pick it up and give you my impressions. Very excited as the car arrived in melbourne 3 weeks from this Saturday...

no Internet on the move? That's tough esp if had a passenger who wanted surf the net on the move and check out info. How do you subscribe to it?

Supposedly it tethers to your mobile phone and acts as a full web browser via iDrive controls. I did offer to pick up the car as is and promise not to Facebook on the freeway but the dealer wasn't so sure that was a great idea!

According to posters in the UK 5 series forum, it is in the latest 5 series but has not been enabled in the UK yet. Will be interesting to see if it's fully functional here...

Ironically the first thing many owners will do is get that nanny lock hacked.

What a waste of time.
