The fmic should be the first modification regardless of meth or no meth. But in regards to your question, it will add additional cooling to the air before the meth is injected, thus an overall lower IT will be achieved.

I've been leaning towards installing a new FMIC since they're so cheap (big tom version) and am looking data to justify the effort- looks like a fun project but an all-day one. The OPs question has been asked many times, with similar responses but not much data. There are also a number of vendors who sell FMICs who repeat the same. I have not yet seen good data on how much benefit FMICs are with meth unless the car is being tracked or racing quarter miles back to back, where stock FMIC quickly heat soaks. IATs- They're very low with a high flow nozzle and meth. Not clear what the expected gain in HP would be from adding an improved FMIC and dropping IAT a few more degrees in daily driving. I'm guessing not much. Pressure drop across FMIC- haven't seen data on the benefit of slightly lowering this in terms of engine/turbo response or turbo wear, but there is likely some benefit. Most of the enthusiastic responses are from people who installed FMIC before meth and saw a huge benefit. IMHO, if you already have meth, I suspect you won't see much change from FMIC in daily driving. At the track, FMIC upgrade is critical. I'm sure others will chime in. |

With meth the IAT drops significantly but with an upgrade FMIC the rise of the IAT is not as fast as with the OEM fmic..To want to have full bolt on, you would need this to have that STATUS!! lol

Its NOT crazy in the seat of your pants power if you have meth.
It will only help on back to back heat soak runs. The benefit with meth would be less work for the turbo's and more efficiency. (Pre turbo inlet temps). There will be some gains usually in 3rd gear or more, of 10WHP give or take 5 I would imagine. |

OK, don't put a FMIC on and race me. Bet you'll throw a FMIC on with the quickness after that.

hotrod trapped 130+mph and ran 11.3xx and runs his car hard.. he's a very valuable resource for the community with all the realworld testing he does.. oh and he runs the stock intercooler, so I would say no..

It is a well known fact that Hotrod straps rockets underneath his car that fire up on WOT

He also has some light weighting done to his car and runs on race gas and methanol. So imagine if he had an intercooler and a full exhaust and all the other stuff

He used nitrous for that record run and once nitrous is introduced it really doesn't matter if you have an upgraded intercooler at this point!

e.g., Shiv's 11.5@125 run is probably more along the lines of a 122 trap anywhere else.
