Congrats about the baby, I would say if you got the car new, are happy with it and don't want to loose too much of what you put into it thru" resale/depreciation just get a used reliable 4wd like a RAv4 crusier for the missus and your use for doing baby stuff/playgroups/etc. and keep the car for your use and for when you'll need to go out on the weekends.
Having said that we too had a baby a while back and the car seems just fine though I need to get another car, pref a 4wd for the missus to take the little one to playgroups et al. Try getting a smaller Maclaren pram when using the car and doing quick trips, we have a Phil and Ted too but that's a bit bulky and best kept for long strolls. A Safe n Sound Meridian baby seat fits just fine in the back seat unless you are ferrying more members of your family along. You could also try getting the narrower Safe and Sound baby seat that's meant for smaller cars. Offcourse the other best option if you don't need two cars and you still find the E90 too small then your previous post to find someone who wants to downsize from a 4WD is a good option, All the best Tip: There are lots of nice X5's on carsales.com.au for private sale, try messaging them to see if they looking to downsize Last edited by cruvon; 11-18-2010 at 12:49 AM.. |

Meh, big trucks FTL, even X5s.
It is a relatively short time that you need to cart stuff about. We always managed with a Liberty. If space is tight, how about a Thule roof box for a few months.

cheers for the advice guys,
yea am sure it wont be long but thinking about at least 1 or 2 more lol so definitely need bigger car soon I believe... new x3 looks great especially with m sport. i also checked new ml300cdi last weekeknd, around $100k with amg sports package, nav. seems like cheaper than x5. well, I cannot really afford brand new Suv at the moment, need to think other options... |

ML63AMG however is a completely different story. Haha that's even more expensive! I'd still go with the new X3. BMW sorta stuffed up the X1 but the X3 seems pretty darn good.

Like others have suggested i also recommend checking out the new X3 when its released March next year. I myself have just replaced our work hack X3 to a new LCI X5, couldn't be any happier with both vehicles in regards to driving enjoyment and space versatility.
If you are willing to go X5, there should be some great deals available till end of this year. When i say great deal i mean 15%-16% off drive away prices. |

..think some pretty good examples of used Cayennes (6cyl and a few S versions) are available in similar price ranges as the X5 but obv the turbo Cayennes are dearer. Not sure how they stack up on the reliability front though.

The Cayenne S service amounts are absolutely crazy! One of my family friends dad just forked out 8k for his 45-50k service. He didn't mention what was involved but all i could think of was how excessive it was for a SUV. I was looking at the new cayenne as well but the new diesel 6 in the X5 is way to good to even consider the Porsche.
I tried looking at Range Rover Sports as well, great cars and all but the engine is also a bit of let down. I mean when trying to compare the engines to BMW's equivalents they all fall short. I haven't even gone into the driving dynamics yet...test drive a few makes and go from there. |

Dynamics wise they can't compare to the BMWs, but comfort and interior opulence wise, BMWs can't compare with the RRs. That being said, the MY11 RRs are pretty decent on the road. The new Jaguar engines are AWESOME - the new twin turbo turbodiesel V6 is more than enough engine for the car, but I myself wouldn't be happy unless I got the V8 Supercharged. Slap on some 5% tint and 21' wheels and you've got yourself a seriously cool ride.

hahaha Jeef! I like the gangster appearance of the RR sports and the interior as well, but put your right foot down and see what happens...8.3 seconds 0-100 (TDV6)
If i end up coming to the meet you can inspect the swagger of the new LCI M-Sports kit for yourself. |

cheers for the advice guys,
there is no doubt that both RR sports and new lci x5 are both damn good! but again I wouldnt really be concerned with accelerating power with SUVs. yes as you said up there, x1 and x3 kinda two similar vehicles.. in terms of capacity and prices? well, all new RR is something I am looking forward to see |

true, I guess driving dynamics are not that greatly spoken of in Cayenne reviews though the interior and exclusivity are surely up there
