JB3 Issues! Help!!!

I live in SLC, UT at about 4500 ft. I installed JB3 two days ago and have been furiously testing it last few days, and just can't get it to run smooth.
The altitude is high, but IMO not too high, and I only have 91 octane gas available... But I still can't imagine that that would cause is to run, well just so bad!

I've tried map 3 and 5, and on both maps it sometimes has weird power surges! On low rpm's it runs amazing when I rev it up a little more every now and than it has a weird drop of power and from than on runs crappy for a few miles!

Could this be the altitude, and 91 octane gas?? Or is it something else? I have read many posts, and issues people have with higher altitudes, but I've never heard of these power surges. I also didn't drive it for too long of a time, does the ECU need a few days to adapt to the JB3? I am mostly concerned with the power surges, especially since I haven't heard of anyone else having these issues... Car is stock other than DCI and BOV.
Thanks!

I think you are running the wrong maps...for 91 oct. you need to run maps 2 and 4 IIRC. That could be your problem

No map 5 is ok, but the lag fix will cause surges around 3K rpms. Feels almost like a stumble. The default is 80 but my car surges until I am down to 50 on the lag fix setting. I don't notice any difference in response when i dial it down either. I would dial it down 2-5 units at a time if this is what you are feeling. If you log the surges, you can see pwm jump all over if your lag fix is too high for your car.

I had BMW update my DME with lagfix from the manufacture and it played havoc with the default setting of 80. I hated my car until i figured it out.

Good luck.

Well, it sounds to me like the lagfix is the problem... Therefore map 2 or 4 might be a better choice!?

Thats what I think but m3eater might be right, I dont know what hes talkin about....I let shiv worry about my problems now. I think that map 5 is a little aggresive for your setup but thats up to you. If switching to map 2 doesnt fix things I would then try was m3eater is talking about. IF that doesnt work, hit up mike@n54tuning.com. He was always quick to answer any questions I had.

At high elevation the G3 normally needs custom settings. Just email BMS for help. You would definitely not use map 5 and would use map 1 (with custom settings) or map 3.

Did you buy it new or used? If used you need you need to do a log ASAP as who knows what's loaded in there...

BMS has a guide on their site. you install software and press start, then press export when done. It's not that hard. Do not change the lagfix setting that is bad info. You probably just need to change the global target values. BMS will tell you when they see your log.
