Great cars, my dads just got one but i've not been out in it that much to comment really....
what would you like to know specifically? Which engine/spec are you thinking of? I personally wouldn't get anything less than an M sport kitted one ![]()

You do need active steering and suspension according to the press reviews. I have driven a 530d SE with and without these options and it does make a difference for those who are enthusiastic about driving.
With them it was an excellent car but adds £3k to the cost. Without them other cars in the class handle better hence why I decided against one. HOWEVER, the above views relate to higher powered diesel versions. If I was in the market for a 2 litre 4 cylinder model then the 520D is excellent value and the only real choice at that price point. Loads of people at work have gone for them.

The old 520d accounted for 80% of sales in the U.K. so it's not a surprise. The new 520d is far better value for money than the old one being only £1,000 dearer today than the same car at the start of 2008 and is much better equipped than the old one giving you:
Partial electric seats (£345 option in the old one) Leather interior (£1,345 in the old one) Bluetooth (£535 in the old one) Full ATC for an extra £300 (an extra £595 in the old one) If the old one had had that spec in 2008 I would have bought the Five instead of my E92 because it would have represented far better value for money and makes a similar but different impression than the E92 |

Might also consider one but it looks so big. For those who have one and gone from an e9x does it feel that much larger in terms of handling, cornering parking etc? Seen some discussion on wheel sizes, what's the consensus let's say for a 530d m sport? Thanks.

Whilst it is not everybody's cup of tea, try driving an XF s afterwards. An interesting contrast in dynamics.

If you're seriously considering the F10 make sure you take plenty of test drives and focus on the steering. I have the 535d M Sport auto with adaptive drive+VDC but not the active steering as the motoring press don't recommend it. I have an on-going issue with my dealer, who accept that there is a problem, but they say it's only being reported by keener drivers. The car has undergone a full KDS alignment check and the next step is that the car will be test driven by the regional BMW tech rep. I really hope that there will a satisfactory outcome as I really love everything else about the car, but if the steering turns out to be an insoluble characteristic, I don't see myself keeping the car long term. And if this is the future of BMW's steering, I will very reluctantly be looking at different marques. |

I saw a white (a bit over done now I think) 535d M sport at the dealership yesterday, and I must say, it looked fantastic. Looks allot bigger than the old 5 though.
