* Vishnu Procede v4 problem.. what happend?? *

Hey guys,
So something crazy happened today on the highway and I have no clue what it was or what I should do about it.

So I was traveling on US-1 and some kid tried to race me in his chevy cobalt ss and i raced him and crushed him. But right after that i tried accelerating and my car went into limp mode (I got a CEL) and I pulled to the side of the road immediately because every time i stepped on the gas, my car started shaking like crazy and making a weird gurgle noise. So I opened the hood after I got on the side of the highway and my engine looked like the whole thing was vibrating, and even the exhaust was shaking. Then I shut the car off, put the procede in map 0 and erased all the codes and started my car again, and everything was fine... after about 15 minutes of driving in map 0 switched it back to map 2 and everything was fine.

What could have happened? Is it something I should worry about?

Oh btw my oil temp was around 180 when all this occurred.

Thanks for the help,
Matt

I had the same thing happen. I passed it off as a glitch.

I reset all adaptations, re-uploaded firmware and maps.

Never happened since.

sounds like an engine misfire. I get those every often when I floor the car! Just restart the car and it should clear.

Likely an actual problem with HPFP, misfire or other hardware problem based on the shaking you described...it's almost never due to the tune or we'd all be experiencing it frequently.

Did you get a chance to read the codes before you cleared it? It woulda told you where the problem was.

My bet is that it was a misfire. How long since your last spark plug change?

I had that happen a little while back and then realized I had 25K on those plugs. In all my other turbo cars I changed them every 6 months to be safe.

To do:
1) update harness (2 min). Unless you received the Procede in the last few days in which case it's already updated.
2) reset adaptations through command center (10 seconds)

Get back to driving

Same thing happened to me today but I think its either my plugs or that my procede currently has the 6AT maps. I will be uploading the 6MT maps asap. It only happens from 2-3k rpm. If I downshift to 4k and above it runs ok..what do you think?

If your engine was shaking, most likely it was a misfire because one (or more) of your plugs weren't firing. Happens to me all the time.

And shiv, I'm PMing you about the harness update..

If it's happening at low rpm, it's likely going to be a plug or coil. Do yourself a favor and rule out variables by following my my suggestion a few posts up (and again below)

Harness update: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...harness+update

It's the first thing you should do it you have a misfire issue. After the update, reset all adaptations through command center.

It addresses a possible compatibility issue with certain DME software versions and the built in o2 modifier (which is no longer needed to supress cat conversion codes).

This comparability issue can induce misfire by making one bank run too rich. Not unsafe by any means. Not not ideal for power and clean burn. All the new harness we are sending out have this update done. I suggest doing it. It takes a minute. And you will have to do it eventually.

It looks like the adaptations start at 4 and end at 12? am I wrong? should I also reset the ecu?

Yes ecu reset at the end. So just start off at 12 and work downwards to 3.

I had similar experiences after a run with the new M3. It's was one of the spark plugs went bad. I had the spark plugs changed and everything seem to function well now. I had several runs with Vette and Boxster/Cayman afterward without any incident so far.

Just got back from a run to test it...nothing was better. Its the spark plugs and or coils. Is it best just to run on map 0 until I swap the plugs? I dont want to hurt the engine. The after you punch it at low rpm, it misfires horribly and then it throws a SES light and shudders until I stop and restart. How bad is that for the engine?
