PROcede - Official Name Contest Thread

Shiv mentioned creating a thread to disscuss posible names for the new PROcede, since many people miss the XEDE name, and it cant be re-used, but no one on here really cared for the PROcede name....

So here was my input:

If I was naming the product, I would call it
"V-map" interceptor computer, since the name actually describes what its doing (maping signals from sensors)

Could stand for
"Vishnu Modified Address Processor"
or "Vishnu Multiple Action Piggyback System"
or "Vishnu Multi-Address Program"
or anything else that "MAP" can stand for...
like...
"Magically Add Power"
"Make Addditional Power"
"Mega Alien Probe" (ok, maybe not that one)

You get the point though... something that you can use as marketing as well as a name... I can already picture the brochure now...

"the Vishnu V-MAP system" - "Driving Performance Now" (get the double meaning on that tagline?) nice, huh? I suprise myself sometimes... and I already searched, that tagline is totally unused...

ussually I charge for this stuff...

I am assuming Xede is pronounced "Exceed" as in to surpass or to transcend.

Now is the PROcede the same as the Xede? I'm a little in the dark as to the differences here. Was Xede simply the prototype and PROcede the finished product name? Why can't the Xede name still be used? I don't get it.

Or why not simply change to XedePro (as in XEDE Production), or XedeXL (Exceed Excel)?

I don't see why they just don't keep the name XEDE. Isn't that the name of the computer in the rest of the vishnu app's?

Xede = beta
PROcede = production version

Reason Xede can't be used:

Keeping the Xede name isn't an option. The Xede was not our product. We were just the nerds in charge of distribution and US application development/tuning. The product itself belonged a an Australian company. During the last 4 years of supporting the Xede, we took it as far as we could go with it given the hardware. But with a limited number of inputs and outputs, we simply couldn't do things like VANOS control, speed limiter defeats, closed loop boost control, etc,--- all the things we KNEW that we wanted to eventually do with the 335i (as well as in other applications). This is why we only used the Xede platform as for beta testing. And this is why we only released a couple dozen of them. We knew we would have to replace every single one when the ante is upped. No one wants to be left with old technology.

The beta period gave us the time and info we needed to quantify and address whatever limitations/shortcomings we could find. Every single diagnostic code that we tripped (thanks again to the beta guys for their feedback and understanding!), every single loss of CAS sync we logged, ever single little glitch we found was going to be addressed by our own system. Something that had the hardware guts we needed to move forward with. The Xede is going through a major redesign later this year and there's a good chance that it'll be back in the playing field in a new-and-improved form.

But the show must go on. As for the name, all of the people we asked, months back, liked it. Of course, we're always open to suggestions. If someone has a better name, let's hear it!

cheers,
shiv

How about "Yo Mama"

Let me use it in a sentence or two:

"Wow your car is fast, is it stock? Not anymore...it's got Yo Mama in it!"

"Nothing gets my heart rate up faster than driving my 335i with Yo Mama in it."

"Tuned in and turned on by Yo Mama...that's whats giving me the extra swell of power."

Or don't give it a name. Give it a symbol, like what Prince did. My suggestion is:

Im fortunate enough to see both the boards today, the PROcede is a much better board with much more professional circuitry, and a kick ass sticker!!!

And different companies produce both.
