What dealer won't tell you about "standard" iPOD USB on '11 models

Currently have iPOD integrated interface in glove box. No NAV. Favorite part about this feature: Being able to seamlessly play my playlists. So I was excited to see that iPOD USB now comes standard on '11 models in center console. Problem is, USB DOES NOT display or play iPOD playlists. Only albums and artists. So if you want full integration being able to see and play your playlists, you will have to pay the extra $400 for the integrated interface option. Bummer

I have a 2011, the worst part of all is that if you have a large IPOD with a ton of artists on it, the interface is about as useful as a snooze button on a smoke alarm (clarkson reference ). Scrolling all the way through your artists from A-Z would take ages, I don't understand why it is so hard to integrate scrolling by the first letter of the artist name. If you have playlists, then it works fine, otherwise it's total crap...

Now, if you're like me and received the 2011 base stereo, then that's just icing on the cake!

Yup, integrated iPOD interface works great with playlists. Playlists=fail with USB. For around 1000 more than a base 328xi, Audi has quattro, xenons, ski passthrough, auto adjustable seats and legit iPOD integration.

Don't the '11 models come with the value package which has ipod integration? My '10 had the value package with the USB hookup in the center console, and I can play playlists. Am i missing something? Scrolling through all the artists would indeed be unfortunate.

Your iPod adapter in the glovebox is the OEM accessory. The iPod/USB adapter (6FL0 in the center console, when used with the 6FL cable, will seamlessly play all your playlists in the iPod.

The iPod/USB adapter has been standard equipment in the 328i (Value package) since MY2010.

Rather than spend $4-500 for adding iPod integration that doesn't scroll by Letter of Artist or Song, maybe it would be better to replace the head unit with an aftermarket that does that.?
