Is my dealer telling the truth?

So I take my new 335i in to get the stereo checked out. At max volume (which isnt very loud) I get a loud feedback/squelch from my speakers. It only does it on certain songs at certain times. All 3 sources too.

Dealer is telling me that the system is ok, and it just wasnt made to play at the highest volume.

Mind you, I do have the most basic system that comes in the car. No amp/6 speakers. But it does seem like the car would be able to play at it's max volume.

Can you post video? I'm not sure what this noise is....

Also it's common to have a slight whine in the system. Mine has a whine at very high volumes however it's not noticeable while music is playing....06 E90 L7.

No this sound isnt a humm its a very loud squelch/feedback that scares the shit out of you when it happens. it's not a constant sound. It happens on beat with the music. It does sound like there is too much power but its hard for me to believe that in a 50 k car you cant turn the radio all the way up.

I think without a video if this nobody will be able to tell you if it is normal.

Amp in Headunit is probably clipping at max volume and pushing distortion to your speakers. Beware though because continuous clipping of the amp can damage the speaker drivers.

Yes the dealer is telling you the truth, the noise and the clipping is normal operation at max volume with your Stereo system.

Time for an upgrade.
