Does this design gain you anything, performance-wise? Just curous?

Yes. I have a vented hood on my E46 and after I drive it I put my hand over the vents (just for fun) and I can feel the heat of the engine ventilating from the vents in the hood. Cooler engine = better performance

Yes sir, the weight savings also are definitely a big advantage! I'm pretty in-tune with my car and when I changed from my OEM hood to this one my car felt a little bit quicker... due to the weight savings. I then had to switch back to my OEM hood when I took the CF one off for paint and then the car felt heavier. So the weight savings are noticeable.

so then why didnt you mention that before?

and i see what matt was talking about in the other thread about the a pillar just ending into the hood and why he wants to paint it

still not feeling the vents though

any idea of the weight of the oem vs CF, of course when thinking about the gains in weight reduction you have to consider the loss from going farther from 50/50 toward the rear

Will get official numbers on the E90 hoods soon. Here is the weight chart for the E46 M3 parts (PDF file)

Yeah, I am dead serious. Why would I not be?

Will post weights when they are available. I am estimating around a 20 lb weight difference (the E46 M3 weight difference was 18 lb). This is for the double sided carbon fiber version of the hood.

vendors trying to push their products should always be tested while making claims about said products, especially if they claim performance gains like being able feel the diffrence in performance from a < .006% drop in weight, or that the negligible heat shedded from the vents is going to increase engine performance

im not saying its a bad hood, but lets not pretend that the only real reason to buy it is for looks

I'm not the kind of guy to "push a product" - I sell products that I believe in PERSONALLY and feel that will benefit the E90Post community. I know that you guys are not that familiar with me yet since the whole E90 market is new, but you will see over time that all we do is provide the community with great products and help each one of our customers out. I don't make false claims, because I don't need to. The high quality of the product sells itself and is backed up by our customer service and knowledge.

Haha yeah I know what you are saying. But please understand that many of our E46 M3 customers that have purchased the full lineup of vorsteiner products did it with performance in mind.
