Hair loss products that work???

I'm 24 with a receding hairline, it's not bad but I do not want it to get worse. I would also like to regrow what hair I have lost so far if possible. Any experience with any type of treatment or products would be helpful. Thanks.

I am 23, in the same boat. Being so young and going bald really puts a dent in your confidence.

From my research there are drugs that can stop hair loss, and slowly regrow part of it, but you have to commit to life. Once you stop taking them that hair falls out again. Those drugs aren't cheap and have other side effects. No go for me.

From my personal experience less stress = more hair. I am junior in engineering, really hard not to stress out.

All shampoos I tried are lies and BS. All the "natural" remedies like jojoba oil, few other herbal oils are great for softness and shine, scalp doesn't itch etc, but as far as actually strengthening hair roots, nothing. Tried massaging scalp as well, doesn't seem to work either.

I was on Propecia for a while (mid twenties)... It sort of worked for me. I guess it can take up to a year before you know if it's working or not. For me I did notice after several months of taking it that less hair would fall out if i scratched my head, etc. Supposidly you have to keep taking it though to maintain the hair you've got. If you stop taking it everything that was holding on with the drug just falls out...

Expensive as fuck too. I just gave up after a couple years of taking it. I honestly didn't care any more and it was something that I didn't want to have to take my whole life. I told myself that if I got to 30 with the majoriety of my hair I'd be happy. So here I am... and still have most of my hair. Plus I'm married so I "hooked" one before I went bald, so I feel like I'm in good shape.

In the short term you should stop:

Wearing hats/helmets
Using gel/Blow drying/brushing excessively/coloring, etc.

All of these things are really hard on your hair. The more you pull out when you yank off your helmet/hat or brush your hair, the more you have to grow back to fill in. Eventually your follicals will just stop producing hair and you'll have a problem.

Good luck though, been there before. Sucks.

I went grey (or at least really started) at age 12, so I learned at an early age to just not give a flying fuck about it. Easier said that done, but just learn to deal with it would be my advise.

When it starts getting bad just start wearing your hair shorter to compensate. Honestly baldness doesn't really bother me unless it's super obvious. Don't be one of those guys that has the bozo the clown hair cut.

I have little league pictures where I looked like bozo with a hat on, it was so thick. Then in the later teens it started to thin. 20-30 I just kept it short, but knew I had a big Franciscan head like my dad. Around 40 I shaved it all off.

Man, if I had it to do all over again, I'd have shaved it as soon as my parents let me have a blade!

The ONLY thing I've ever seen that sorta works is the Hair Club for Men, but that shit HURTS. The big differenece with them is that they plant the new hair in groups of single, pairs, triples and randomly do it over a couple of sessions. You do NOT want corn rows!

If you have enough of it, no one will notice, nor dare to acknowledge your lack of hair

Also wanted to add that this shit is not hereditary, at least not in my case. My father and both grandfathers still have their hair, not even a receding hairline. Its mostly white, but still there.

IMO just shave your head, in the end it looks better than most replacements...

Usually an issue with the thyroid. Many things can affect the thyroid but nutrition, stressors of all kinds, polyunsaturated fat rich foods, and excess estrogen are high on the list. Genetics are likely indicated as well.

Someone had mentioned in another thread about getting a prescription for a generic version of that and splitting the pill that was reasonably cheap. Sorry... forgot the details

I took finasteride 2.5mg everyday for 1 year. My head was full of hair. Without it my hair thins out. There were side effects. Half the amount of sperm would come out when i ejaculated. I decided to stop all drugs and just live naturally.
