I'm thinking about replacing the aluminum trim on the 335is for wood trim. How do you remove the trim, and is there much chance of damaging things when doing this?

Is the 335is dct tranny trim the same s 335i automatic trim?

I've only taken out the center console trim which was super easy. I'd assume this should be easy too if you're careful. The pieces seem to be pretty sturdy so if you're diligent and take your time I don't think you'll have a problem. the link should take you to a DIY for an ipod interface but part way down the page there's a short writeup with pictures that shows the dash trim removal and where the pins that hold it are located.

its super easy and their is no way you can break the trim at all, just pry it out carefully, i like starting from the inside nearest to the steering wheel..

Once you remove one piece youll understand how easy it is to replace.

I liek using a puddy knife to pry it out..

wonder why you want wood trim? kinda takes away the sportyness of the car and makes it turn more into a luxury car.. although it already is 50/50..

but hey its your car you set it up the way you like it

I agree with you, thats why I would love to upgrade my wood trim to aluminum trim.

Super easy basically each piece u can pull from the corner. Don't be afraid to use a lil force.

I've done wood to aluminum trim swap on my E90 a while ago. Overall, it was pretty easy but that ashtray cover was a pain. You might want to search some DIYs before you start.

You have to order the clips, etc. They are glued/soldered onto the wood trim and can't be taken off.

Here are the part #'s
