sport is low enough that it looks great, but is still daily drivable with no fears of driveways
My car is on H&R sports, and I really think its a great drop If you want an extreme drop though race is the way to go

I HAVE THE RACE ON STOCK SPORTS SHOCKS & THE RIDE IS REALLY GOOD.MIND YOU I DRIVE MY CAR EVERYDAY BROOKLYN, QUEENS, LI EVERYWHERE, HAVENT HAD ANY PROBS YET. ITS BEEN 2 WEEKS NOW. It just boils down to your personal prefrence. Me personaly the race isnt that low, no probs going up driveways or anything. all in all = +1. Im Not going to put on coilovers beacuse how often do you use it to its full potiential?. if your a track guy makes sence. My g35 has a full tien superstreet suspension with edfc, camber amrms, etc full complete set up and it was truly a waste of money because i never really use it.

on my car, I actually ended up needing a fender roll, and there is barely enough room to poke a finger in there I am running 265's though Quote:
Also, your definition of a good ride is subjective I though my H&R's with stock shocks rode pretty well until I sat in nick's (lemans335xie90) car with kw v3's slammed even lower than my car My ZSP shocks are on the home stretch of their lifetime, so I will likely get koni yellows by spring time, or If i feel really spendy, coilovers.

I will be replacing the shocks to koni. But my question to you guys did you deal with this situation or are you guys recycling stuff off the net. I deal with the first hand experience, not that grapevine shit some people roll with. Show me soild evidence that race or any spings ruin your stock shocks.
I'm riding on 19 x8.5 +30 19x10 +26 on race and no rubbing. 235/35 upfront 265/30in the rear. Just goes to show self proclaimed experts don't know shit. Best advice don't listen to everyone because some people just talk out of there ass. |

it seems like every body ends up getting diffrent shocks after a whil cuz the stock ones done make it , so figured I might just get them now ensted of paying install twice . i guess I will go with sport if there wound be no gap in front .. I most say that the race one on ryans car look sick I just think I might be to low for BX rouds .

Im approaching 15000 miles/10 months on the stock sport shocks and the ride is deteriorating pretty quickly, Next meet you are more than welcome to sit in my car with the stock shocks near the end of their life cycle, and then compare them to someone with fresh shocks, or better after market ones It is still bearable, but I know its time for an upgrade pretty soon, first thing in the spring hopefully. As for the reason why they blow out the stock shocks so rapidly, I am sure any of the resident experts can chime in for a proper answer, but as far as I can tell with logic, the stock shocks are designed to work with stock spring travel, and with the drop, they are constantly ~halfway compressed, and have much less room to dissipate the force of impact, so that results in them constantly being under more stress, and it also explains why the ride is harsher, since more force ends up making it through the suspension to you And with the settling, I also experienced that first hand, as I thought the car was sitting high when I first dropped it, but over the time I've had em, the drop has dropped significantly. Anyone who has springs can attest to this And I had mild rubbing on mine when I had passengers in my car/ a full tank, but that is an easy fix with a fender roll. Quote:
Also, dont rush the decision A quick search of the forums will yeild a ton of pictures of h&r sport vs race springs so you can choose for yourself what drop you prefer

relax people
ive been riding H&R sport w factory sport shocks for 45 k without any problem ( installed by the infamous Boopie himself ) but i do believe its going to go soon Any springs that compresses the factory shock will definitely put a lot of wear and tear on it. SOME are less fortunate and some like myself are lucky. Race will put a lot more stress over sport ! I would definitely recommend coilovers first but like you - i myself also went the cheap route and took a gamble - dont get me wrong i dont regret it at all Heres a pic of how it look first 3 is when i first install the springs with 18inch( haven't settle in yet ) and the last is how it is now currently with 19s Please note that it is NYC - for me race was to crazy - potholes / in and out of gas station / driveways and etc. Take a step back and think it through before you make up your mind p.s. ryan i would love to sit in your ride. As i never witness any car with a drop more then an inch consider good (spring and stock shocks ) Especially going through the bqe/belt and certain parts of the FDR. kim Last edited by Bogo Shipyo; 12-05-2010 at 01:27 AM.. |
