Stinky steering wheel (M-sport)
Anyone else with the M-sport (multicolor stitching) from the "Q" guy on ebay have a stinky wheel. Mine reeks of acetone-like fumes. Really only pronounced in the morning after sitting closed up all night. I'm thinking it came right off the line when he shipped it ant it will wear off soon. It's pristine, and the leather is premium in quality, but it does stink, and there seems to be an odd moisture if I squeeze it. Hope it's not toxic, cause I do love this wheel.

Its totally acetone (nail polish remover) stink, or something close. Very industrial. I'd make a note to self.. wash hands more if it wasn't so distinctively acetone. Ha, bad joke. Anyway, it sort of gives off that 'new car smell', but too strong. I'm guessing it'll be gone within the week. Just wondering if any other members who purchaced from 'the steering wheel guy' have a stank issue. I'll email him. Maybe just cause it was so new. He calims to be choked on supply.

Left it in the box though and haven't touched it until today actually because i dropped it off at my dealership. My car is coming in tomorrow and they are going to install it before i pick up my car either Thursday or Firday. But i definitely smelt exactly what you're describing. I hope it doesn't smell anymore. Didn't notice it this morning though when i dropped it off at my dealer. So i guess it will wear off because it's been in the box for about a month now. I'll let you know for sure though when i pick up my car. |

1) Leave car windows open
2) Point fan at steering wheel (One that plugs into a wall outlet obviously) 3) Leave overnight/weekend 4) Optional: Massage the wheel to get even more oder out since you claim squeezing it makes it worse. I'd guess that would get rid of most of the smell. I think the smell is from the glue used in the wheel curing.

yeah get a professional camera that can capture the smell emmanating from the wheel! ahhaha that would be hilarious ...
![]() seriously, have you tried leather conditioner? would that help? Just so you guys who don't notice the smell anymore, a lot of times, your nose adapts and adjusts to the smell, like your own personal body odor. get someone new to sniff the wheel |

Albert, the fine ebay seller of wheels, said that it's some artifact of the cleaning process that the wheels go through before shipping and that it will be gone in another week. Mystery of the Stinky Wheel solved.

It would seem he doesn't have any for sale at the moment. He does however have the older one without the colorful stiching for a 100 bucks less. I am thinking about going for it. Can any of the guys that purchased the steering wheel tell me which do you think is better?
