Earthquake Shallow Subwoofer - 4-ohm
I just ordred a pair of Earthquake Shallow Subwoofer - 4-ohm from bavauto.com
These are going under the seats in my 2010 328i, hopefully they fit without modification, bavauto said they were direct drop in replacements for the factory subs I hope they improve the sound. I have the standard stereo. I wish BMW would have made it easier to replace the rear deck speakers and the door speakers. Anyone have any experience with those rear decks? Yea you either need spacers or cut the fins off the bottom of the OEM woofer housing.
You'll need an amp. This isn't a suggestion. The SWS-8s won't sound any better than the stock woofers running off the stock amp. Rear deck/door speakers are easy to get to. It's the size (4" drivers) that make it difficult to upgrade. The rear deck grill is clipped onto the parcel shelf. Just pry the grill up, then you have access to the mounting screws. |

My advice is fit an amp 1st, then change speakers 2nd if you're not happy with the power.
I'm powering my stock subs with a 35W RMS per channel amp and it makes 1 hell of a difference. It's like having a boy racers boom box under my seats
