Torque Converter Lockup

I started to drive the car in manual mode about a year ago, just because it gives me better control of the car without the hassle of third pedal.

But I just noticed that the transmission does not lockup in cold weather, when the car is still very cold. And because of that, it makes the whole transmission feel like a old "slush-box" automatic. Quiet annoying sometimes when you tries to accelerate. But it goes away pretty quickly after a 2-3 miles of driving, and feels perfectly fine after that.

Talked to the SA about this, but he doesn't seem to have much of clue what I am talking about. So I am just wondering if anyone of you guys with 6AT experiences the same.

Yes exactly the same here, when really cold it does not lock up for a mile or 2.

Its actually common on almost all cars until they reach a certain temp. Helps get a little more heat in the motor.
