I've lost one of mine you will find it isn't the kids but when it freezes and you use your headlight washers the car likes to eject them out!

Need to take mine into the stealers

I just phoned the stealers just now. Your looking at £40 for the stalk and unpainted cover. For the whole lot and painted, its £55 +vat!

Wonder if eBay will be any cheaper.

Thats absolutely bollocks why should you have to pay for them? its clear to me that the design is not fit for purpose if it can't be used when its cold!

True im going to give it a go though they have got to be stupid I wouldn't purposely remove the headlight washer jets and you can see the bumper hasn't hit anything. Its typical BMW taking no notice of the customer.

3 days this week I've got out my car and had to push the other washer jet back into the bumper, I think I will take a picture next time to show the muppets.

Calming down and thinking about it rationally, it may well have been caused by the weather. Extreme temperatures of -12 degrees could have caused the problem.

I guess my next question is....will this be fixed under warranty?

You wash your windshield by having your headlights turned OFF. If you turn them ON or keep them on AUTO mode the headlight washers will splash.

As this seems to be a common problem in cold conditions, is there a fuse you could pull when it gets call or something to stop them coming up?

Good question, not sure?

£48 minimum to repair this if it happens.....that's ridiculous for such a stupid design fault!

Thats my whole argument they put these cars through extreme winter testing and i agree that if you only use tap water it will freeze but it is just that a design fault.

They programme the washers to spray every third you wash your screen so i why cant they set them not to fire it is below 0degC.

I'm pretty sure that on the coupe fuse 48 controls something else too - so dont think it's possible. Could someone confirm?

Then buy good quality washer fluid and run it pure....

I had to replace 2 jets last year so i learned my lesson then.

But shouldn't they not fall out regardless of what fluid is in them? The next thing will blocked washer jets for not using BMW approved windscreen wash.
