Screwing the Insurance Co.
Hello everyone,
I have a 330i with (Front: 18x8 ET34 225/40 R18) (Rear: 18x8.5 ET37 255/35 R18) tires on it and the fronts are now worn out. As you all know, runflats are expensive. Well, I opted for the wheel/tire insurance package at signing and was wondering if anyone has gone through the tire insurance claim process before. If so, is it a royal pain? Do you call the dealership or the third party? I read the brochure they gave me, and it says it covers road hazards.... What if I happen to come across a monster pothole that takes out those two front (worn out) tires..... Does it take much to render a runflat un-repairable? ![]() |

I killed my first wife and made it look like suicide so I could collect the insurance money....
...maybe I shouldn't have posted that.

What a bunch of babies.
![]() While I COULD just go pay for 4 new ones today, I don't want to because I got hosed like a sucker on the tire/wheel insurance and want to take advantage of it. I have been screwed too many times by car dealerships with thier shoddy, slime-ball ways. I just look for a reason to stick it to them. I didn't realize we're all choir boys in here. |

Speaking of tire insurance. When I was signing docs at the dealership, the Finance guy offers the tire insurance...
I politely decline, and he goes on to quickly and abruptly answer back with, "you do know its $475 for a new tire"?.... I quickly felt like starting an argument with him about how I can get the same tire at tirerack for much cheaper, but I didn't want to get him riled up... Thats on top of the fact that a runflat CAN be repaired... |

Same way a regular tire can be repaired when punctured through the tread. A patch or plug. My girlfriends e90 325i SP had a flat. Drove it slowly to the tireshop (although they did mention that driving on the flat could make it difficult) and they patched it for about 30 bucks.. Its been 2 months now and after bi-weekly PSI checks, it has maintained itself fine.

The idea is that if the sidewalls are compromised in a way that they won't hold air any longer then they need to be replaced. A simple hole won't do. What you really need is a sidewall slash in order to get a wheel replaced. - SR |
