Interested in a used basic cable? I hear they can be unlocked. I can't find anyone to do it tho.

BT Professional Kit has no limitation to the number of cars you can work on & goes for around $735
  • The Professional version can be used on an unlimited number of BMW and MINI automobiles.
  • The Professional version supports Coding and Command Console features.
  • The Professional version can be configured to display workshop information so that print-outs can be given to the customer with your shop details.

BT Enthusiast Kit supports only up to (3) cars managed by VIN & runs around $287

'The system works by storing the VIN number of each car it's connected to into the cable's firmware. Once the cable has been used on three cars, it can only be used on those same three cars.'
  • The Enthusiast version stores the vehicle identification number of the car it is attached to into the hardware. This limits the use of the tool to three(3) cars.
  • The Enthusiast version cannot be programmatically upgraded to professional versions. (Upgrades available through a return only.)
  • The Enthusiast version does not have access to Coding or Command Console features.
  • May not have access to some activations that should only be used by professionals.
  • Workshop information is not available in the Enthusiast version.

And yes, with both tools you can access the VIN's unlimited number of times

"The Professional version supports Coding and Command Console features."

Does this mean the pro version can code lights if I want to get LCI tailights?

Not positive as to what level of coding the BT tool will do or whether it can change your VO.

But if that is what you are looking to do - then the cheaper way is to buy the eBay BMW INPA / Ediabas K+DCAN USB Interface, D-CAN, CAN cable that we all just recently bought:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-I...item255f64e9f4

Download the BMW software from the thread regarding coding:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=451145

And you will be able to both code and change your VO.

The cable has a 'Buy it Now' of $119, or 'Make Offer' if you offer him $85 he will accept - that is what most of us paid - and free shipping!
