HTC EVO 4G - Anyone own one?
Hey guys just wanted to see if anyone has ever owned or owns the HTC EVO 4G phone with sprint? Currently have the iphone 3GS with 4.0.1 software loaded. I've looked at other similar devices such as the iphone 4 and the epic 4g though the HTC's design and features is what appealed to me the most. Not the mention the unlimited plan sprint offers and their 4G coverage is within a good amount in my city.
What are your thoughts on this device and what other ones would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

I've had mine since the day it came out too. I love it. No complaints here. No bugs or any problems since the update. Gotta love the flash 10.1. I can watch live ppv fights thru my phone and what not. My friends with iPhone 4 are stunned.

I'm waiting for the Evo Shift to come out. I wanted the Evo but to me, it is too large of a phone. Most people like the large screen, but I felt like I needed to buy a man purse to carry that phone around. The Evo shift appears to be a smaller phone with a qwerty keyboard.

I also got mine Day 1 and haven't looked back. Great phone, as long as you keep it updated it's fast and reliable.
The only 'problem' i've ever run into is when i was trying to sync to a headset and the car once with BlueTooth. Evo's are pretty bad when it comes to BT apparently...not a big deal at all in my book, just putting it out there if you use BT a lot. spotty more than anything. http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-...oth-issue.html http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-supp...-cuts-out.html http://www.evo4gforum.net/troublesho...tooth-problem/

Look the device up on the xda developers forums and you'll get a basic taste of what people are generally either ranting or raving about. There's a lot of user experience and information over there.

Great input from everyone, Thank you all. I hope their service is comparable if not better to that of AT&T. Has anyone experienced the htc evo on 4g? How does the speed measure up in your opinion?

got the epic. to me it just became personal preference. Thought I'd want a keyboard, didn't actually end up using it too much.....but it's snappy, and a bit smaller than the evo (which I think I enjoy).
All a matter of personal preference. The epic was different than every other android phone with the interace. The evo was exactly like the others I've used....that ended up probably being the key reason I went epic. Both are good phones though |

I've had it since the day it released as well. Excellent phone, but it is a little large IMO. Slim, but large is generally what ppl prefer these days, but I've always liked phones that are less 'tall.' I can't complain though b/c I am hooked to using the phone for everything. Typing on it is super fast, no lag at all (I find I can type faster using t9 vs anything else). I get 4g and use turn it on only if I know I'm going to download something or watch videos. Otherwise, 3g is plenty fine for just surfing and 4g sucks up way too much battery life. That's the biggest negative about the phone -- battery life is pretty bad. I make sure I have a charger @ work, home, and in the car. If you're using 4g + gps, for example, it drains the battery like 2-3x faster than normal use.
I was with Tmobile for 8 yrs before I switched to Sprint for the past 4 years. I get reception everywhere and think the reputation about Sprint's network in the past is not a problem these days. |

I can take a screen shot easier than that on my Evo lol.
Evo is boss, especially if you root it and everything. Never had a problem with Sprint either, unlike most of my friends with AT&T. |

Stay far, far away from the Hero. The lag on that phone is unbearable, especially when typing. After a few months of use, my wife's Hero has gotten insanely slow w/it having a huge lag on sending/receiving texts and emails. She doesn't download apps or anything to 'clog' the phone up either. My Hero did the same thing after a couple months. The phone is garbage compared to the newer stuff out there.
