New member of the Non-RFT Club !!
I had 4 basically new Continental ContactPro SSR OEM RFT's (205 55 16's) with only 2k miles on them until earlier today when I replaced them with Bridgestone Turanza Serenity's at Costco (taking advantage of the Bridgestone $70 off deal - last day today).
The RFT's were put on new when I bought the car as a CPO in September. I've only driven on the Bridgestone's for about 10 minutes so nothing to review yet except that as a non-enthusiast, it's not the life-changing difference that some here make it out to be. The Conti RFT's I had were pretty good tires. Why then?? Well basically, other than a better ride - I didn't want to have a situation where I had a flat, bubble or otherwise that required me to change a tire and it would cost me an obscene amount for a tire. - if I get a flat, I'd rather just have to deal with getting a traditional tire rather than a run flat that may not be available wherever I am. - I can relax a bit more driving the car without the fear of hitting a nasty pothole that make bust my rim. I kept the RFT's for anyone that may want to buy them or if I sell the car and the new owner wants RFT's. They'll be cleaned, wrapped, and stored. Later. |
