"Thunk" in front suspension under full extension

Ok, this may be normal, or may not be. I get a dull "thunk" sound from both sides of the front suspension when I go across a crown in the road (perpendicular to the crown), or a speed bump, with enough speed where it feels like the suspension has hit full droop (full extension). If I go over the speed bump slowly, there is no noise. Stock suspension, '11 E92 Msport xi w/ 4k miles. It's done this when it was new, with the runflats, and now with the non-runflats. No noises under compression and all other times the suspension is tight and noise free. Anyone else experience this? Is the suspension travel so short that I'm hitting full droop at street speeds?
