Best way to launch a 335i???

Well my 335i 6MT is about to arrive and i want to head over to the track to see what ill run im just wondering what the best way to launch this car is...I am coming from having a 2006 Evo IX that i could rev to 6k rpm n just drop the clutch and bone the fk out. My 5k rev limiter was removed. I know im going to have to slip the clutch in if i want to get minimal wheel spin just wondering at what RPM??

Sorry if i didnt search..

just assuming since TQ comes on quick and there is a good amount of it, u will want to launch from a reletively low RPM so the tires will grip, then gun it

Do a search for G-Tech Pro. Those guys are getting 0-60 times in the upper 4 second range.

The 335 is absolutely traction limited with the runflat tires. You have to rev enough to get into the turbos (I use 2500-3000) then after a car length or so you can ease into the throttle more till full throttle. You do need DTC off, though. With DTC on, as soon as the power hits, the computer cuts power.

As an example, if I ease away from a stop light, then about half way across the intersection I floor it, the back tires light up when the turbos hit. It is an amusing ride You have to walk that fine line between too little and too much power.

I am sure that you will figure it out for yourself soon.

Good luck!

just got my gtech pro and was doing runs all of last night. Best run in my stock (6mt) 335i was
0-60mph: 4.83 seconds
1/4 mile: 13.34@ 105.2 mph
Sounds just about right to me, but now that i bought and did my runs, the 200 dollars i spent kind of seems like a waste, but its still neat to have one
I found that the best rpms to launch at was between 2-3k with dtc off

Was that DTC and DSC completely off (press and hold the DTC button for 3 sec.) or DTC on (quickly press the DTC button once)?

Either you can't drive or you have cold tires. Around 4500 is the only way to get below 5 sec 0-60. What's your data?

I can confirm the latest R&T issue findings of how to launch 335i the fastest possible way.

yea because warming your tires up is essential for street compounds

I dont give a dam about a magazine article. You prove me that with run flats, that car can be launced at 4500 rpm with DSC and DTC off. Have you done it? If you did not, how can you be so sure? If that car launces at 4500 without smoking tires, it will hit 0-60 foot well under 2 secs, and that means the car will definitelly run low 13s to high 12s in stock trim.

Dont believe everything you read, do it and find out on your own.

And yes I know how to drive, dont you worry about that

Ok, maybe the compound on these tires are different but I definitely noticed a HUGE difference on my motorcycle between cold and warm tires and those were street tires.

When I feel the tires after a spirited run, they are definitely warmer and I presume, stickier.

Sometimes it is. Cold S-02s suck ass, but when they're warm they stick.

that was with holding the button for 3 sec, and you know what, to be more specific, the best launches are from 2-2.5k rpms above 2.5 and there is a bit too much wheelspin to get a "perfect" launch

LOL...that is beautiful. I can't remember how many times that I have thought the same thing. That type of person is typically lazy and impatient so it isn't like they are going to change or anything. So, I just usually bite my tongue and ignore it rather than wasting my energy
