Shouldn't be a problem. Mine pairs fine (HTC Aira--similar phone). Go to Settings->Wireless settings->Bluetooth Settings and hit "Scan for devices". You should get a BMWXXXXX (where XXXXX is the last 5 digits of your VIN). Then follow the prompts both on your phone and on the iDrive. Mine had some issues with noise bursts on the call when wifi was enabled, but with the Android 2.2 update, I've had no issues.

Actually, it was the first 2.1 firmware as shipped by AT&T. The second firmware (2.1 update) fixed the problem. I'm running a 2.2 ROM now that is not an official AT&T release. I believe it was something in the BCM4329 driver. The BCM4329 does bluetooth, wifi, and a bunch of other stuff. With the initial release from AT&T I'd get a short noise burst (maybe 1 sec) every 30 seconds or so. I think it was the wifi scanning for access points or something. This was gone in the next release as well as the custom release (froyo) I am now running. It probably only ever applied to phone using the BCM4329 chip (only aria and legend AFAIK) and the buggy initial release driver.
