Dyno Graph Results - Uncorrected? SAE? STD? What Do You Guys Like To See?

We have been on a few forums and the results are always different. I'm getting ready to put together our dyno sheets and before I start formatting and posting everything what type of dyno sheets do you guys like to see on the forum?

The dyno is a Dynojet. Standard seems to be uncorrected with a smoothing factory of 5. The dyno post sticky most people are doing STD though?

I made pretty decent power on pump gas with all the bolt on's, I can't wait for more. You will see a post up shortly with our numbers upgrade by upgrade.

Everything was done with the Procede Autotune default settings with map 12-17

Thanks!

These dyno sheets will be showing our basic bolt on gains.

Stock
Stock + Procede
Stock + Procede + Intake
Stock + Procede + Intake + Exhaust
Stock + Procede + Intake + Exhaust + Intercooler
Stock + Procede + Intake + Exhaust + Intercooler + Downpipes
Stock + Procede + Intake + Exhaust + Intercooler + Downpipes + Charge Pipe Upgrade

All on Pump Gas

Then we will do a few pulls with Race Gas with all the bolt on's before we move onto something a little bigger

The parts are done.. Hoping to record a couple videos tomorrow and get things going The exhaust system is super nice. It's dual 2.5" and follows similar to the stock route with 2 mufflers, it sounds really good. We used all v-band connections so you don't have to worry about any 2-bolts but the 2 flanges that connect to the downpipes. We also made the exhaust in 3 main sections, but each section in the 3 sections are separate if that makes since.

The intake looks mean! It has 2 huge filters in the engine bay. We also made a nice 3.0" charge pipe.

Hoping to get some graphs and pics up tomorrow, but it might be towards the first of the year when I get it all done. Depends on the work load The parts are amazing though. They are just like all the other parts we sell.

Smoothing factor 5 is the norm. It seems many prefers the STD correction (since it yields higher figures) and a correction is needed anyway to make the run comparable to others, so why not. I personally like to see the actual power as well but STD and smoothing 5 are next to mandatory for the N54 to get a valid reference.

That's what I get for not proof reading my post. Factor.. Factor.. Factor... no more factory

All the dyno results in the sticky are STD, so I guess we will do the same.

Cool!! Is there anyway you can test out plastic vs metal intercooler piping as well?

Looking forward to that 3" chargepipe. Hopefully it will be moderately priced.

I think our dual 2.5" exhaust system from the downpipes back (does not include downpipes) is going to be around $1400-$1500 - I need to work out the final pricing.

The exhaust is all stainless steel with stainless steel v-band flanges and clamps. We use a very nice v-band flange.. None of the cheap billet flanges that warp, we used formed sheet metal flanges that seal nice and tight

Currently I have the stock intercooler piping besides our pipe that comes with the intercooler kit and we are making right at 400 on just pump gas. We are going to be replacing the charge pipe tomorrow and see what happens with that.

The problem with those standardized testing procedures is not only does it require removing an engine from the car but it also doesn't establish a realistic charge cooling scenario for air/air intercoolers. In this respect a conventional and standard inertial dyno (dynojet) is probably the most useful real-world option.

I disagree. In case the same dyno is used and the conditions are about the same and a correction is in place it is perfectly fine to compare the power for different mods on the same engine. It is not the absolute power that is of any interest in a case like this (OP's purpose), it is the difference caused by changing parts. The actual performance is also by far of more interest than a calibrated power figure.

There are so many issues with chassis dyno testing that it's embarrassing to even consider a chassis dyno for power testing. The car companies use chassis dynos for emissions work and engine dynos for engine development and true power testing. I'm well aware that "tuners" like to use chassis dynos because they are "easy" but the data is basically worthless in my experience.

I'm not trying to start a pissfest, I was just answering the OP's question. I am sure those who believe in chassis dynos are not about to change any time soon. Carry on.
We have to work with the tools we have and unfortunately we don't have a full climate controlled dyno room with engine dyno. It would be hard to compare performance gains vs other shops if we all have different tools. The dynojets are calibrated pretty similar we are able to get almost identical results to shops in Florida with the same type of dyno and they are on the other side of the USA.

Thanks for your opinion though! It's not feasible for us to do that at this time.

The car is at the shop still, I had to drive my daily home. I will take some pictures tomorrow if we get everything buttoned up

The intakes on my car are the prototype the final intakes will most likely be cast.
