After you get your car coded to have a digital speedometer, below the date and time, it shows the vehicles true speed. Not 4% higher like the actual odometer shows.
This difference is annoying |

Mine shows about 1mph less than the analog... not too annoying to me except when setting cruise control to 80 and it says 79 :-P

People who can code it.
And mine shows about 3 or 4 miles per hour less.. Its probably because I have 16 inch rims. It is annoying though... Cruise control 68 is 65 for me |

I would tell you where I got it done, however I absolutely hated them. They were very sketchy, and I would not reccomend them to anyone else. And I do not want to give them any more business.

I also haven't heard about the digital speedo being accurate... there's some talk on the 5 series forums about it being off as well (but less so) from the GPS measured speed. So I wouldn't rely on it as being your accurate speed regardless of rim size etc.
PS I coded mine myself, there's a great (albeit LONG) thread explaining how to do it and it's rather painless unless you've got a Procede installed :-P |

When I had my car coded (over here in Germany) the guy doing the coding asked me IF I wanted the digital speedo to match or IF I wanted true vehicle speed. I chose the true vehicle speed. So there IS a way to code it either way. Maybe the guys in the states just don't know how to do that - yet. ? Having the true speed doesn't bother me at all. I rather prefer it, as I approach a radar speed trap. And BTW the digital speedo "v = kph or mph" is dead on - checked with my GPS. Dackel |
