JB+ help
So I installed the JB+ with the setting sligtly more than 50%. When I took the car out for a spin, it threw a CEL and engine malfunction light. What am I doing wrong, and do I need to clear any codes- I dont have a BT tool.
I installed it after letting the car sleep for more than 30 min with doors locked. Help please! |

the sleeping procedure for your car prior to the install sounds right. I think its the actual installation part that went wrong. check to make sure your connections are tight. Try reinstalling it again, make sure connectors are snug and secure.
50% shouldn't be a problem at all... it also could be your keys. were your keys inside your pocket when you walked to your car to install the JB+ after its been asleep for 30 mins? If so, that could have awoken the car. yes if you threw a CEL, its best to find a buddy to have the codes cleared.

Definitely didnt have the keys in the pocket. In fact, had them in the farthest room from the garage just to play it safe! I am going to reinstall and see what happens
Can any BMW shop (non-dealer) remove the codes? |

So an update. I went ahead and dialed the setting down from 50% to 40% and its still throwing an engine malfunction light. Is there anything that I could be doing wrong?
I already reinstalled the JB+ after the car had been in sleep mode for 30 min+, and double checked the connections.... Any help is appreciated and anyone in the Miramar, FL area with the BT tool if they can PM me about reseting codes. Thnx |

So you put the car to sleep and locked with the hood already open right? It wont work if you have to open the door to open hood. If you don't have time to wait, you can just disconnect the neg battery cable and install the JB+. It shouldn't throw any CEL at 50%. Did you buy it brand new? If not check the harness to make sure it's intact

Bought it used from another member on this forum who didnt have any issues. I basically put the hood up, closed the car door and waited 30 min for the car to go into sleep mode. Then i installed the JB+. Still getting the same CEL and engine malfunction light to come on, even though im set at 40% |

When removed the service engine soon light goes away after driving for awhile (like 40 min).
Is there anyone around Miami, FL that I can meet up with to double check please? |

Also could there be a problem between the JB and the newer software version? I had the latest version updated on my vehicle during the last service appt about 6 months ago.

Throws codes during WOT. While normal driving sometimes it has a slight hesitation.
In terms of gas, my wife had put 89 in by accident. So before I installed the JB, I added 93 on an empty tank and drove 15 miles. This before installing. |

She felt really bad about it. And the fact that she just gave birth couple of weeks before, I let her slide...
But still wondering what can cause the codes to be thrown. Is the JB+ compatible with the latest software as part of the service maintenance? Or could it be the HPFP since I havent had one replaced yet?? |
