Well, let's just say that although they were from 65mph+ rolls, it was like passing a car standing still on the freeway. I know, it wasn't a Boxter S or a Cayman S (which would've been a little more challenging), but nevertheless, it was still fun toying with the guy and his friend in his oh-so-fancy, "there is no substitute" Porsche Boxter. I had my 240lb. colleague in my car + a trunk completely full of my work stuff, and it still wasn't a challenge (I know, I know ~ 378HP vs. 225HP-245HP...MY unknown, but whichever -- not much challenge there). The guys in the Porsche kept smiling and laughing as I passed them each time with very little effort, and ended up about 1/8 mi. ahead (literally) before braking. I know they were giving it all they got too, as they tried several times to keep up with me, but it was like a Toyota Tercel vs. an M3! They were really cool about the whole thing though, so I gave them a thumbs up too.

When I was all done with them and before I had to exit the highway, I rolled down my window along side them and said "gee, your Porsche seems kind a slow." They just laughed and asked me what's up with my car being so fast. I said "it's a twin turbo." Their jaws dropped and they gave me a thumbs up; I guess they don't know anything about the 335i. However, I didn't exactly tell them about my little secret under the hood that makes my 335i just a little more interesting. If the PROcede is just 5% better than the XEDE, then that would be more than enough!

Yeah, I don't normally do that, but to be honest, I haven't really had many challenges from ppl since I've had my car, and I was in a "playful" mood this evening + I kinda felt like "picking on" a Porsche. I guess the 335i's stealth factor is even more than I originally thought it was.

I agree with you on the stealth factor, the only people I get to race for fun is my co-workers. Gave a fat blister to a G35 coupe but both the 2004 E55 and C55 pulled away from me :mad:

I'm still running the Xede, not the PROcede and it was installed at the that time already. I ran against the E55 stock and it gained about 2 CLs pretty quickly by the time I was about to shift into 3rd with a 15 mph roll on. With the Xede, I was able to keep up just a bit, about 1/2 CL by the time I shifted into 3rd.

The C55 is the most interesting and quite frankly surprising. Even though I had Xede and a passenger in the car who weighed at most 150-160lbs, the C55 still had a slight edge acceleration while in 3rd gear at 6200 rpms, my front bumper was about 8-10 feet away from his rear and I could tell he was still pulling on me. But what makes this C55 interesting is how fast it is for a stock car, even the owner admits his car seems faster than normal. He's met other C55 owners and pulled at least 2-3 CLs from 40-130. They ran this car against an E60 M5 and it kept a 1-1.5 CL lead on the M5 up to 125 from a 60mph roll on, however I do not doubt that if they were to continue, the M5 would've shown its true power.

The Boxster is pretty easy prey. I had three, up to and including a 2000 "S". None were highway racers. Nicely balanced backroad cars, but pretty tame acceleration. I was chewed up by some pretty mundane Pontiacs to the point where I just gave up. The 911, on the other hand...

Unless your racing around a 1/16th mile track (basically running circles around your house), a stock Boxster would have no chance against a Proceded 335i (assuming equal driver ability). Even if the Boxster handles a little bit better, it couldn't make up for the difference in acceleration.

What's this "just wait" Shiv is alluding too? He likes to toy with us. Remember the dyno results after the ECU was reflashed by BMW. He kept posting for us to guess. C'mon Shiv... Spill the beans.

yea as a general rule if a boards car has less power than another its always "well catch up in the turns" not matter if the suspension is better or the car is lighter or not

There is no way a Boxster would keep up with a tuned 335i at the track, regardless of turns. the boxster may be midengined AWD, but the 335i with near 50/50 weight distribution is no slouch in the handling department, either, and the 335i's power would more than make up for the slight loss in the twisties.

your right about the keeping up fact; the 335 will win in a tuned situation. the fact is, the horsepower difference is waay too much. but what about a tuned boxster s vs a tuned 335? i think the boxster smoke the 335.. if you have not ever driven the boxster, you will understand that 50/50 weight distribution on beamers is not the pinnacle of wonderful steering. the geometry of mid engine is far more better for handling than a 3500 pound rwd, front engine-touring coupe.

oh and ps..a boxster is not AWD. it is RWD

I hope you meant it as a joke, because the Boxster is the least fancy Porsche you can get these days. The cheapest and the slowest.

In the grand scheme of Porsche worthiness, even a modified 335 has a ways to go before it can touch the top cars...
