A little advice
I am looking to change my car for a convertible - before I go see the $tealer I wonder if any of you can give a little advice.
I will be looking to spend approx £40k before haggling and will put down approx £7k. What finance options are available through BMW at the mo and what should I push for.... Mileage per annum will be approx 15k and happy to pay a balloon after a period. Thanks in advance Bob

Hi Bob
Are you looking for new or used? The amount of discount will also depend on the margins and incentives (these change) available to the selling dealer. You're more likely to gain a higher discount on a new car which has already been built compared to an Approved Used Car. As for finance I think the typical rate is currently 7% APR possibly higher due to the mileage you anticipate doing. You would be better off selling your current car privately because you're less likely to get top part exchange and maximum discount. |

Bob,
I've heard that the convertibles are very unreliable. Probably the roof mechanism and rubber seals.Have you checked this out? Cheers |

thanks for the responses.
I am toying between a 4 month used fully specced or ordering a new not o specced. I agree px not most effective and if I go new then I will probably sell privately but if used will bite the bullet and for ease px. I was aware of the early models having issues however I too believed these were sorted - I will discuss terms for roof mechanism issues on ownership and also try to negotiate a set of winter rubber also. I am really trying to get a heads up on the finance route as to whether to get a loan outright or do a pcp. Cheers Bob

yeah thats the idea - but on a pcp type deal or something similar rather than a full bank loan

Most dealers will match or better bank interest rates. Might be worth looking on the BMW AUC site, where you can coose a car worth £40k and enter a £7 depo, then it works out your payment plan. Last edited by creepy coupe; 01-11-2011 at 10:16 AM.. |

I have had an E93 for about 4 months and haven't had any issues - indeed, I've been very pleased with the car, which feels like a go kart and has been a hoot in the fine weather, so I hope you enjoy yours. Good luck haggling. |

I'd go down the used with all the toys personally. I've just been comparing similar specced used & new cars (touring) as the new car boys said that 'should' be able to compete due to better residuals (and discounts) but, when you're talking a 'specced up' car it goes tits up. All the toys on a new car does nothing for the residual value (i.e. they instantly lose their value) so the monthly figures don't work out very competitive. I should say, this is in my case, could be different for different models & different ticks-in-boxes...
