I have a 08' 335i couple. I Purchased a set of Roundels for my hood and trunk with their little Suction tool, and I got the trunk done easily. But the suction tool does not work with the front roundel... Anyone have any pointers?!?http://www.e90post.com/forums/images/smilies/iono.gif

i slid a credit card underneath a part of the front roundel and then popped it out with a screwdriver.

I tried that but can't get the roundel to give me enough room to get a card behind it....?

Just did my roundels for my car today. I got a rag and placed it on the hood as close to the top of the roundel as possible. I used a tiny flathead screwdriver to get under the edge of the roundel to give it some clearance and used a plastic trim removal tool to pop out the roundel. Took me about a minute to get it off, no scuffs to the paint! I did crack the OEM roundel though.

Tried the credit card method before that, but like you I didn't have enough clearance to wedge it under.

Yeah, the tiny screw driver works well. I'd suggest using the suction cup to pull up on the roundel while you pry with the screw driver. As has been said by others, use protection of some sort between the screw driver head and the hood.

Tell you what worked great for me - I got (2) lengths of that plastic strapping (like what is found binding printer paper boxes), slid them under the roundel from each edge in to the attachment pins using a slight back & forth motion, grabbed the two ends from one side of strapping tape in one hand, the other two ends from the other side, and pulled upward till the roundel popped off.

That way there are no screwdrivers or anything metal involved at all.

At least on my car, a suction cup would have never removed the roundel - that thing was on there to stay - even with the strapping tape fully supporting under the roundel along both sides, and evenly pulling both sides at the same time - it was a bear...

Got the idea from one of the sponsors here that sells roundel removal tool that is exactly the same thing - only if you get it off a box as I described above - it's free

You removed the rubber grommets first right?

How are you gonna remove the grommets before the roundel?

The grommets push into the holes in the hood from the outside, then the roundel pushes into the grommets...

My hood was a PITA to remove for some reason too.

I started with a business card to give a tiny bit of leverage, finally was able to slip a credit card under there, and then used a piece of plastic about an inch wide and about 3 feet long (the kind that you use to wrap up two or more big / heavy boxes together).

I got it under right in the middle and pulled from both sides with that. After much much effort it finally came lose. Almost broke the damn thing it was in there so tight
