Portland fun?

Me and my gf are going to the Portland - Nets game on Saturday, and this will only be our second real time in the area. Is there any suggestions on things we should do/see/eat? The first time we went we went to the memorial, and thats it.

What kind of things do you like to do? Are you looking for good places to eat? things to see? how long are you staying?

Only there for a few hours. We'll probably get there around noon or one and the game is at 730. We enjoy a lot of things like zoos, movies etc..all the things young couples to do. Just wasn't sure if there are like "must do" things there.

And yes a nice place to eat would be cool. Shopping centers?

so the must do, is Voodoo donuts, close to the arena, good, bizarre donuts. Google them for the address. the best eating, IMO, is on nw 23rd, Alot of good resteraunts there, however it is on the other side of the river from the arena, worth it, and not very far. I would say if you like Thai, Typhoon is good (yuppie thai), as is Tara Thai (more traditional), for desert you cant go wrong at papa hyden, or Roses Deli. Up the street from Rose's is Moonstruck Chocolate (the best hot chocolate (try the mayan), Roses deli has awesome sandwiches, and very filling, the Reuben's are great, I like the pastrami dip. If you like Japanese,Yuki is excellent. All of these are on 23rd.

Close to the arena is Loyd Center, a mall, not much more to say about it, its a mall just like anywhere else, though it does have a skating rink inside.

For thing to do I really only know bars/clubs. But I think for out of town people a great place to eat for a feel of the city is the Portland City Grill. It's on 5th and Burnside and there is a parking garage under the building. Get a window seat of course and parking is free if you validate in the restaurant.

Very good place to eat!!! However not sold on the " for a feel of the city" to get a true feel of the city I would think you need to quit showering now, hide your odor with copious amounts of Pachouli, wear non matching clothes, and eat at the food carts, that only serve up locally acquired, produce, and eat animals that at birth have given the farmer consent to use their body's as to sustain the life of eclectic Portlanders.

I agree haha, in the sense of being a true portlandite. I guess I was speaking more to the actual layout and night time effect of the city.

Awesome video. My wife bashes on PDX all the time. She grew up in a burb, so I guess has the "right" to do so. That being said, it certainly isn't at the bottom of my list either. Lived there for a summer in '93 and about 6 mo in '95. Good times at The Gypsy in NW.

Hawthorne blvd is where it's at for a true Portland feel. There's a group of food carts on 12th and hawthorne. They serve pretty decent food and the price is fair.

If you're a sushi fan, then saburos off Bybee blvd, forgot the cross street. But you can look it up. Hands down the best, biggest and most fairly prices sushi you will EVER eat!

I wouldn't suggest going to the clubs here in PDX, most of them are trashy and ghetto. Nothing to offer you there.......

Hope this helps
