Yes, that's the only Combox available in the USA for those of us reading your DIY over here. We cannot order the Combox Media at any dealer here.

Internet is to easy to achieve id be happy to guide you through it.

First and foremost you need to remove assist from your VO $612 or $639 if you have a US Car.

FA Write to CAS and Nfrm

SG Code the cic (Restore to default)DO NOT BLANK MAN FILE THIS CAN CAUSE ISSUES that is the wrong way to do it.

Next you need to add the ability to tether phones. That is accomplished with vo writing $644 also add $614 which is internet option. While your at it add $616 for bmw live services.

Follow the FA write and SG code from above.

After the proper VO's exist you have 3 option of writing the vin to the combox. Before i get into that you need to find a suitable vin head to bmw used cars look for a vin that has BMW Live equipped. FYI don't waste your time with US bmw dealers BMW live isn't available for US.

After you have found a vin you have two options of writing the vin both are very simple.

tool32 open the cmedia.prg chose c_fg_schreiben click the checksum can be any number. Lastly run the argument to see if the process workedrun this job c_fg_lesen.

Option one open ncs read media ecu then run FGRN_SCHRIEBEN with the vin you have found.

Alternatively you can code the combox with an ssd I did mine this was. I also wrote to both the cic and combox to avoid any conflicts not sure if that was necessary but no problems have occurred so it cant hurt.

To verify you vin is changed just try pairing your phone with your media via Bluetooth if the vin is different than usually your good to go.

After the vin is changed all vo's are wrote your on the home stretch last few steps are within ncs.

In media ecu code TELEMATIK_VIN=most (i think that was default I cant remember) to TELEMATIK_VIN=coding_vin. In CIC you need to verify ONLINE_BROWSER_C0D=beide_aktiv.

After all of the above has been accomplished its time to check your work. First head to connected drive menu and verify well one their is a connected drive menu. If their isn't you probably still have assist you have messed up on the first step go back over it. Assuming you have connected drive you should see 5 or 6 options 2 of them being BMW live and Internet. If those are their your looking good all you need to do is activate services (Im not sure if this is necessary but it never worked for me until i did it. ) head to services status the last option in the connected drive menu. Verify your phone is connected to the car on the coded vin and tethering via Bluetooth is enabled then Select update BMW-Services or something like that. It will take a few mins but after that your good to go.

A few notes I haven't done this for about a couple years so im going off memory so if I forgot something don't hate me. Also I am using v41 on my cic. instead of connected drive you might have bmw online depends on your fa's you have on your car for instance 6nr. Dont think i am missing anything else but if i am someone chime in.
