Need help, how do I remove a problem screw from a matte black grill mustache?

So I installed a matte black grill yesterday. 5 of the 6 torx screws (attached to the hood) went in fine. The one I'm having a problem w/ just spins and spins. I can not remove it now. I searched and saw a few posts on how the gold thread piece came off from the plastic mustache piece and its a common problem.

I contacted the folks I bought it from (JLeviSW). Nick is very responsive to emails, but hes not giving me clear instructions on how to remove the screw. He says to "unscrew the other side and pull the black piece out. You can then use a set of pliers to hold the screw hole and twist the screw itself."

I dont understand how to pull the black piece out to get able to get to the screw. pls help.

Wont that damage the hood? There is a thin piece of hood underneath the mustache piece. I'm afraid if i pull up I might warp the thin piece of metal of the hood.

I had the same problem on one of my screws. If you are planning to keep the new grill on, I found a simple solution. Take a fork terminal, cut off the part that the wire goes into and slide it between the screw head and the grill piece. If you still have movement go for another one.

I did this and there has been no problems (been that way for 10,000 miles).

I actually did something similar. I found a small washer and fitted it. I was debating if I should fix it, but I thought to myself when will I ever remove this again? And I dont want what happened to that screw happening to the others if I to unscrew.

OP, I actually helped e90chris out with the installation of his grills. What we ended up doing was installing plastic/metal washers in between the screw and the grill. Though what we did with the bad unusable grills was just simply rip it off... We just broke it off by pulling on it really hard.
