225/40/18 or 235/40/18 on 18x8.5 rims?

i know the 225s fit fine on an 8.5 rim but the 235 fit better. only thing is they are a little taller then stock. i will be running a square setup on my 328xi coupe. what do you guys think is best?

i was thinking that and 255 would be awesome all around. im just worried about fitment in the front and mileage. but i suppose a 255 would offer better rim protection

i had asked this question and the guy from tire rack told me 235/40 is the safe bet, and you may be able to get away with 245/40 depending on the setup, as in offset and suspension. i think if your offset is around 30 or higher you should be fine with a 245.

235/40/18 will work on a 8" wheel without a problem. It will give off a beefier look on a 8.0" wheel and a square look on a 8.5" wheel.

IMO, 235/40/18 is the best fit on 8.5" rims. If you don't like stretch, get the widest fitting brand of 235 tire you can find. Goodyear Eagle F1 or Michelin PS2 are probably good choices.

You could try 255/35/18, but personally I wouldn't. It might rub on the front of the E92 depending on the brand and I don't think you will get much benefit from the extra width. There's a risk it will make the steering feel heavier and make the tramlining more noticible.

This is what I run and it works fine. I think I will try 255/35 next. I think I can work it with et37. Will probably be tire model dependent.

I would lean towards 235/40R18 for slightly more width/height.
