M5 Replicas with Dunlop wintersport M3's.

JVFan and I bought these rims for our respective 330i's. Should work well, just waiting to see if we can use stock bolts or the bolts Tiretrends provided with the wheels. We'll see; only a few more weeks before I'll be putting these on.
These are 17" with 225 45's.

The Wheels looks awesome. Are those the real M5 wheels? I have the same winter tires, and I am looking for 17inch wheels to fit those my winter tires too. I have Sport Pkg for my 330i, would it be an issue if you put 17inch wheels for winter setup? Let me know where you get those wheels. thanks!

Those are my wheels...he's my brudduh...

They are "Replica Wheels" vesion of the M5. They fit over the larger brakes of the 330 sport but the M3 Replicas don't.

Good enough for winters here!

The rims are $199 on Tiretrends.com, and the tires were about $255 (runflats). These are CDN prices. BMW caps from dealer range from $6 to $10 each, CDN, depending on which dealer quotes you.

Thanks for the follow-up! I may order the wheels from tiretrends - can't seem to find them here in the US. I've planned on the Dunlop runflats all along; tirerack prices are much less so guess I'll order separates and get 'em mounted and balanced.

Final questions and I'll stop pestering ya: did tiretrends include the BMW wheel caps? Do the wheels include the little ///M badge inserts? Thanks!

These wheels must be available in the US. The guys at tiretrends could probably tell you where you could get them, they were very friendly over the phone. Assume you know they actually go by the name "Replica Wheels?" Apparently many newer bmw rims use this exact size of insert. I bought them from a dealer here in Calgary for $10 bucks, but I bet you could get them for $4 US each. They just friction-fit/push into the centre. Too easy!

Tirerack prices are great, but for us Canadians, their shipping, our GST, the duty charges, brokerage fees.... in the end, tiretrends is reasonably competative at the end of the day. Within 10 to 15% when our dollar is strong. Tiretrends prices look even better when our dollar is weak.

Today I placed my order for the M5 replica wheels from Tiretrends and for the Dunlop M3 Sport runflats from Tirerack. I searched high and low for a seller in the US who had the wheels with 38mm offset in stock. The wheel marketplace seems slow to acquire knowledge about the E90 - several dealers knew nothing about the car while others assumed the same fitment requirements for an '05 E46. Plus, the wheels are marketed under a variety of brand names which tended to confuse some resellers. The Wheel Exchange - who sold them as 'FM Replicas' - knew about the wheel, but has no stock until January.

Tiretrends and Tirerack seem on top of things. Unfortunately there are very few decent looking non-BMW 17" wheels that will fit the 330i because of the larger brakes. Presumably the marketplace will respond to the need eventually - as there will be lots of snow country E90s.

Fwiw, there's a guy on ebay selling the little ///M badge inserts.

Shipped to the US, the rims from Tiretrends.com were $900 + whatever UPS charges for border brokerage. The tires from Tirerack were ~$665 shipped -mine arrived today, ordered last Sat. so that was quick. See Buckman's note above re BMW center caps. If you buy the whole pkg. from Tiretrends I think its a bit over $2k CDN so thats somewhere in the neighborhood of +$1.7k US.

I am not sure if my style 44 17"x8" wheels from my old 2002 330xi will fit my 2006 330i so I am now considering selling them.

Are the M5 replica wheels as strong and durable as the original OEM wheels that come from BMW? Are there any problems installing the Dunlop winter M3 runflats on these wheels? JV or Buckman do you have these on your cars yet? Thanks for any info you can offer!

Just had the confirmation from a customer rep at Dunlop Canada: the Dunlop runflats are designed to work on standard rims.

Therefore there should be no problem with the M5 replica wheels.

BTW I ordered the same package as Buckman and JVFan: mine should arrive tomorrow.

I got my wheels today. (17x8 - same as in Buckman's pics) UPS brokerage cost into the US (includes duties and UPS' overhead) was ~ $42. Tiretrends included lugnuts and metal valve stems. The finish is very nice and the wheels look sharp - these would make a good summer wheel in 18" - my E90 is spoiled gettin' 'em for winter.

Since I only bought the wheels from Tiretrends, they shipped in their original boxes which have a little information - so if you're trying to find these in the US, this may help:

Offset: +38mm
Bore: 72.56mm
P/N: B01 780 547 +38A
Made in Indonesia
With the box and packing materials, weight was listed by UPS as 26lbs.

The box contained a piece of paper with a limited warranty, indicating the wheels are from: Panther Custom Wheels in Pomona, CA.

Next step is several coats of Zaino, then its on to the the shop for mounting the Dunlops. Probably wait til mid November to put 'em on the car.

I joined the club today and ordered the Dunlop M3 runflats and the M5 replica wheels from Volco Tire in Coquitlam. The total cost is almost exactly the same as others have stated about $2,100 Canadian after 7% GST and 7% PST. I sold my old 17" style 44 wheels and tires from my 2002 330xi for $600 today so my net cost was only $1500 for the new wheels and tires.

By the way I also checked out Tire Rack, and after a 20% exchange rate and shipping from UPS and a 7% duty for tires not manufactured in North America the tires would have been about $130 cheaper for the set of 4 from Tire Rack. Tire Rack does not carry the M5 replica wheels so I could not compare pricing of the wheels. Bottom line is I would like to save $130, but the piece of mind of buying from only one party that I have dealt with many times before led me to buy from Volco.

Has anyone installed the M5s on their E90s ? I'm doing my homework, and have landed on the M5s as my first choice. I just don't want to end up with them not fitting due of offset and bolt configuration.

FYI apparently Tiretrends fitted the rims on a 330 to ensure they work after they found out that the M3 replicas do not.

I put my M5's on this week. They look pretty good. They don't fill up the back wheel well as well as the 162's, but overall, a h*ll of a lot better than the steel wheels I had on my A4. I'll try to post pics this weekend. My camera is a 35 mm. They fit fine over the sport package brakes.
