They stopped pre-wire midway through 2009. After that: no alarm = no wires = sad day if you wanted to add an alarm. It can be done with a new harness retrofit (which is not "officially" offered in the US)...

Bump. Can anybody answer this question with a simple way of looking for a connector or something. I have an 4/09 build 335d. The order form had the alarm prewiring on it, but the window sticker that came with the car had no mention of alarm prewiring. I will look through the DIY again, but I am thinking I will have to pull the engine cover off to look for those connectors for the hood sensor. Is this the best way to see if I have the alarm prewiring?

Yes, if pre-wired, you will have the wiring with connector for the hood sensor located on DS, right below windshield on the cowl...

Of course, just physically installing the alarm will NOT make it functional - even if your car is pre-wired. You also have to add the alarm to the V.O. thru coding.

Which will involve either buying a cable/downloading the software/drivers & reading up on how to code in the codind section of the forum - or finding someone with a cable to do it for you - or take it to the dealer and pay $300 to have it coded...

You didn't think anything would be EZ with BMW did ya?

Alarm pre-wiring stopped on 03/09 according to BMW.

You can remove the roof motion sensor trim cover and see if there are any connectors hanging there -most probably none.

Yup, I looked under the hood, I am screwed. It was listed on my preliminary form, I ordered my car and left a deposit of $1,000 in 10/08. Got it 5/10, with 4/10 build date. Now that I am thinking about putting an alarm in I am F#%@ed.
