New tire problem
I recently switched my stock run flats from the rear of my e92 335. I needed a cheap tire to get me through the year, I'm not tracking the car, so something that wasn't completely bald was needed.
I went from the Michelin Run flats 245/35/18 (I dont know why bmw cpo'd the car with a non stock tire size) to the stock size of 255/35/18 . I went with Nankang NS2's after reading that they were fine for daily driving and my purposes.... Heres the issue. They feel sloppy as can be, even when I'm going in a straight line, it feels like my car is in a wind storm. The car feels like its a grand marquis now... I havent seen anybody with the same issue (not that I found while searching atleast) Thoughts? Input? I know the new tires arent run flats so they arent as stiff, but I hate feeling like everything is so loose. |

You are most likely having this issue due to the different characteristics of the 2 tires. Tire compound, side wall characteristics, and tread design. I would double check the tire pressures first and see if they are within spec.

Tires are both at ~35 psi...
I checked to make sure they were mounted the same direction too. They're both the same, and both correct. What gives?... It was never this touchy before. I'll be changing lanes or passing somebody and it feels like its "snaking?" all over the place. Then at speed (50+), it almost feels as if its being blown around the road with the slightest change in pavement) Thanks for the input. (Ive never skimped on tires before...) Go figure. |

You have stock runflats on the front and the Nankings on the rear? That's the problem, right there. Really bad to mix brands and tread designs and especially runflat and non-runflat.

Like most have said, its because of the different compound and tread design you are mixing. After changing this, I can see the handling going back to the way it was. -Charles@VMRWheels
