Can one-piece forged wheels -like BBS CH- be repaired if cracked?

In the coming months I am going to buy a set of 19" summer wheels. I think I want forged due to their higher strength, which is almost a necessity given the terrible Michigan roads.

I am thinking iForged, maybe DPE, or BBS. Specfically BBS CH's.

If the BBS CH is cracked it is repairable?

Are multi-piece forged rims - iForged, DPE- easier to repair if the outer piece (I think it's called the barrel?) is cracked?

Thanks to anyone that responds.

CH's are not forged. They are cast. Any wheel can be cracked under the right conditions, it's just less likely with a quality forged wheel. I wouldn't recommend trying to repair a cracked wheel--it's likely that the crack will just propagate over time with more load and impact and that could lead to catastrophic failure. Multi-piece wheels do have the added benefit that if you damage a part, such as the center or outer rim, you can replace just the damaged part of the wheel--but it will need to be professionally reassembled. Cheers

i'll share the experience of two of my friends...

(1) 18" staggered acs type II racing wheels (bmw e36 m3). rear wheels both cracked. after repaired, repairs would crack again and/or new cracks would develop in a different spot. my assumption is the wheels were bad to begin with.

(2) 19" bbs ch (audi b6 a4). all four wheels are bent. two of the wheels have a small hairline crack each. he's taking them to wheel techniques in santa clara soon to get them repaired and refinished.

That's scary. I'm leaning toward multi-piece.

If he plans on fixing all 4 and repairing the cracks and refinishing them, he
is looking at close to $1,000 if not more. I would get new wheels if I were
him.

I can't imagine the price tag to repair forged wheels.
