Toyo Proxy 4s Vs. Conti Extemecontact DW?
I am unhappy with the noise and traction off the line with the Toyos plus
I just blew one of the rears so I am thinking of replacing all 4 corners. Are the Conti's a serious upgrade over the Toyo's or are the more or less the same thing? |

I think you'll definitely like the difference in grip from the Proxes 4 to the DW's. Iv personally driven on the 4's and they didn't offer the grip I was looking for. DW's are quiet and they do offer exceptional grip.

I had my AMG wheels on my Benz wrapped Conti Extremecontact DWS and I gotta say for the price they are the best tires I ever put on that car! Very quiet and smooth ride without giving up the performance. The DW is nice ( i think thats what they put on Benz's from the factory ) but the DWS are off the heezy.

I have one full summer on my DW's and I'm very happy with them thus far. Can't wait to put them back on!

I have the proxes and they are super noisy after about 12k on them. Wearing good and fairly decent grip but getting really noisy. Im going with the DW or DWS for my next set. Havent decided if I want to run summer's or stay all season, as I try to only run my winters nov-march but we can get snow in CO sept-late late april

Mine dont do horrible in LIGHT snow, say around 2-3", but they arent great, thankfully the early season stuff melts pretty good and I can get it home or where I need to go in time. Its when it stays packed they really suck.

i haven't driven on too many different models of tires. but i've driven on both the toyo's and continentals.
i had the Proxxes on my 328i and hated them instantly, as soon as i had them mounted and took the car for a drive i noticed the sidewall was extremely soft, kinda ruined the cars handling for me. I'm now running the continental extreme contact DW on my 335i and love them, the ride quality is great, awesome grip and when its raining the car feels planted. i recommend them 100%

I had the Proxes 4 (all seasons) on an E46 and they were OK on dry & wet, but below average in even light snow.
My 128i has the Conti DWS tires and while I haven't yet driven them (I assume you meant the all-season DWS and not the DW so as to compare apples to apples.) in snow, they are superior to the Toyos on both dry and wet pavement. Tom |
